Sorry, I think i'm putting this in the wrong place, or maybe it shouldn't exist at all! but...
Shouldn't FPSC, or even the entire of TGC have a wiki?
It would be so useful, as sometimes i've been trying to find what a simple command is, and I come across several threads that end in "use the search box".
If there was a wiki then the main features could possibly be better understood as well as add-ons.
It seems disappointing how there are so many Wiki's for 'pointless' things, such as pokemon, but few which are actually helpful.

I just think this would solve some of the issues which seem to come up time and again on the forums.
Anyone else agree? Or am I on my own...?

@Sparrowhawk

I would agree it is really needed for FPSC, but I'm sure the DBpro guys could use it too.

Maybe there should just be a Game Creators Wiki, with sub divisions?
And would permission have to be granted by a mod before it was created? As I think there are many free 'wiki' domains.

I'm sorry, I couldn't pass up a chance to be that classy.

Well if a mod gives permission I will start one.
But it will rely on the positive attitude of others to fill in many of the articles.

Its a perfectly valid point - however I didn't mean just for prgram features, and sometimes manuals can be confusing if your trying to just sort out one problem.

About hosting, how exactly is the best method?
I was thinking of using a free online hose, such as Wikia, I think that would possibly be the most effective method for the global community, but I don't know much about it!

I think a WIKI is a good idea and I don't see why Wikia wouldn't be just fine. After all, that's what it's made for and FPSC.Wikia.com is available.

Replication is the name of the game, and another storage facility for the guide, links, tuts, info, etc can't hurt.

Will do. There's too many aspects for me to cover alone. I'm gonna work a little bit tonight on it to get myself more familiarized with the website, and then set up the basic categories.

EDIT: Just spent about an hour or so getting things started. Think I more or less got the hang of adding/editing content on that site, so now there just seems to be the matter of adding everything we know about FPS Creator onto the wikipage I'm gonna call it for tonight though. Got other things to do. If anyone wants to add/contribute to the wiki, please do; and I'll make revisions if needbe, when I get the chance.

EDIT #2: http://fpsc.wikia.com/wiki/FPS_Creator_Wiki

You don't need a Mod's permission to start a Wiki; just don't come off as representing TGC in any way. I'd encourage a project like this. More Community involvement is always a good thing!

Not a real fan of Wikia, but I'll contribute what I have to offer, which is fairly limited.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Yes I know what you mean, its changed alot, doesn't even land on the wiki homepage from a search engine, it goes to recent updates instead.
Oh well, its still a wiki I suppose.

I know it's not set up yet, but it's not at all what I expected. I don't like the layout at all. It seems confusing and difficult to navigate. I'll wait a while to see if it gets better when configured.

Is there any way you can change the layout to be more like other wikis?

It would be so much easier to navigate and edit pages.

All Wikia wiki's follow that layout. I find it more confusing than the Wikipedia or MediaWiki layouts.

When I offered to host, it would be a MediaWiki. A good is example of one is the Minecraft Wiki.

EDIT: An event better example is Wikipedia.

Has anyone thought about contacting TGC to see if they are interested in hosting one? It is only an idea.

MediaWiki is the way to go. It's really uncompared to, especially being the vast amount of features they give you. Wikia is meh.

Lets switch to that then, its so much simpler, with hosted wiki's does everyone who edits have to download? And do we have to buy a domain?

I hope you plan to get a domain name of sorts (not .tk). That url is WAY too long.

If you do buy a domain, I'd advise against a .co.uk. For some reason, Verizon doesn't like .co.uk, so half of the time sites with that TLD always get errors for me.
