I am hoping that the Kindle will eventually be a targeted platform. I know the Kindle is not as capable graphics wise as many other platforms but I think there is great sales potential for text based products?

It would be nice, but really I don't see it happening - the Kindle is so different - I'm not even sure if it supports GL. I guess the main thing is that a typical mobile game would run like crud on a Kindle.

It's a shame, because I could imagine some neat text adventures and RPG's. Like those Fighting Fantasy books, where you had to keep stats and roll die... Deathtrap Dungeon is great, I think that's already on iPhone. Gaming is slowly taking over reading as a pre-sleep activity IMO. I wonder if there's a text adventure system for Kindle already, maybe those Zorks and Hitchhikers and Magnetic Scrolls games are already available.

Really though, I am looking for an excuse to buy a Kindle, but right now I'd just look like a gadget hound buying one just to read books.

No need for it, really.

It'd bee cool to see if there were any type of API that'd support a basic I/O game like that. Would be sort of neat. I haven't seen Kindle as a gaming platform, though, but it'd be a cool addition to Amazon's marketing.

This sig can be yours, too!

But games have already been created for the Kindle including at least two Fighting Fantasy games (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004JWHW92 and http://www.amazon.com/The-Citadel-of-Chaos/dp/B004S7A1AU/ref=pd_sim_kinc_1 and a bunch of other games such as Monopoly [href]null[/href]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004EUSZCW/ref=s9_simh_bw_p298_d0_i5?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=174ETSCAM34XC79E96RJ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1294530842&pf_rd_i=133141011 and Maze A Tron (http://www.amazon.com/Maze-A-Thon/dp/B004FOUOK8/ref=pd_sim_kinc_5).

I know Kindle is currently not the type of platform for arcade or 3D games - at least not until the platform is further developed (which I am sure is in amazon's plans).

I still think a lot of games could be created for the current version of the Kindle (as has already been demonstrated) and it is a very large market.
