So I recently installed DBP on my laptop again. Updated it to the current version and all that jazz. Tried to run a program and got the errors "Failed to 'LoadProjectFile'", "Failed to 'LoadDBA'".

I realize that DBP runs with DirectX 9.0c. But My current version is 11, and to my knowledge you can't backdate DirectX. I have tried Google, and the Forums, and found nothing. Any help is appreciated, even if it is a link I may have missed.

P.s. Even a simple 'Hello World' program doesn't run.

Sounds more like something with the location settings is wrong.

Have you installed with administrator rights?
You can try using an alternate Editor such as CodeSurge to rule out problems with the editor.

As for DirectX: You actually can install the "latest" version 9.0c but you have to download it from M$. It won't screw with your DX10/11. I had to do that for DBP as well

If all else fails I'd recommend uninstalling and installing DBP again.

I don't think this is a directx related problem (I could be wrong) looks like an editor problem. Are you using the old DBPro editor (the one with the grey background) or the new one (looks like visual studio, white background)? If you're using the old one I suggest using the new one. It may also be your anti-virus blocking dbpro so try compiling with your anti-virus turned off. Westmere seems to cover everything else.

Alright, here's a slightly stupid question, but... How exactly do I change the editor style? I'm going to try everything I can, but I want to try this first. (Getting back into DBP :/ Not as easy as I thought it would be )

I never really used the integrated editor so I went back and checked. Since it is white and I have just recently reinstalled my system including DBP I'm guessing that mine is the new one Hodgey mentioned.
Since I can't find a grey one anywhere I am further guessing that if it was ever installed by the DVD the updates removed it or replaced it with the new one.

Since you are asking how to change the style I am assuming that you are indeed using the old grey one which would lead to the next assumption: You did not install all the updates

Now if this long chain of assumptions is correct then here's probably your solution: Go here, download and install the Patch you will find there (DBP Update 7.7 RC7 atm). I am assuming that this will solve your problems.

Please let us know if this worked for you

The "Failed to 'LoadDBA'" error is the stupidest thing in the whole universe of DBPro, it comes up from nowhere while everything worked yesterday evening, it comes when you install the program to the default location and is solved when you change the location (and the whole thing REVERSE)...

Have come up with nothing against this during a few months of struggle, basically i can use my copy right now just out of luck. I did everything the same as before, earlier i got the error, now i don't.

Just doesn't make any god damn sense.

I just switched over to CodeSurge. I'll be using that from now on. Thanks for all the help though.

@Quel For real? Now THAT is strange ^^

@dj blackdragon3710
Good choice and you're welcome.

I just hope the autor of CodeSurge brings along the 2.0 soon as those auto completion functions he had in the 2.0 beta where pretty cool ^^
