Right click on the green player start editor in the editor, change the ''lives'' value.

When you test game you will always have 99 lives. In built games it will be set to the value you put in the player start marker.

Make sure you're on version 1.17 or later. I thought I could remember it always being there though...

Set it to one life... remove the life hud and voila...

Games these days have infinite lives anyway.. fail... games goes back to checkpoint... it's all easy mode...

I remember the early Resident Evil games (not FPS of course, but in general while on the subject). Only one life, no checkpoints, and you had to find a limited number of items in order to save your progress. An hour or two of running around in circles avoiding zombies trying to unlock doors and pathways, only to die and then have to restart alllll the way back to your previous savepoint. Made the games scarier, IMO, because every monster encounter had the possibility of setting you back an hour or two, as opposed to 30 steps to the last checkpoint.

Yes... I remember on Code Veronica X having used up most of my ammunition and having to do some insane running, dodging, and all sorts of awesomeness to get to the next section without dieing... It was great fun...
