You know when you want to undo something?? you go to edit, then you click undo right?

well, they placed the save all button right under the edit button, what this means is some times if I have to undo ten times or alot some times the menu for edit will not load all the way then i end up hitting save all.WHY OHHH WHY PLACE IT THERE? Please move it somewhere else.

1. Which IDE are you using?

2. Ctrl-Z

Also, I really don't understand what your complaint is, because can't you still Undo after saving?

I AM VERY HAPPY that this is the most critical aspect of DBP for you.

-In.Dev.X: A unique heavy story based shoot'em ~12%
-CoreFleet: An underground commander unit based RTS ~15%
-TailsVSEggman: An Sonic themed RTS under development for idea presentation to Sega ~15%

Don't you save before you close it?

Not always, when I am just trying something new out just for fun in my game, but then I dont like it or it does not work right, I then just close it with out saving. Either way From now on I have to make shure I save it becouse of this problem, I just wish they would move that command so I dont mees up agien.

Well, I'm going to refer back to my previous advice and suggest that you try using Ctrl-Z, instead of clickin all the way up on the menu bar, just to see if you like it

Shortcut Keys all the way, it will speed up your coding (and other programs) immensely. You'll find yourself at least twice as efficient very quickly, if not more. Think how much time it takes to move your hand to a mouse, then move it, click, move, click....

CTRL-Z - Undo
CTRL-Y - Redo
CTRL-S - Save

I work with source code and IT systems for a living, my mouse doesn't get much of a look-in. It drives onlookers crazy because the screen appears to have a life of it's own, but the general comment is "How did you do that so damned fast!?!?!"

I just have never learned the shoort cuts, Not shure why, I guess i need to start remembering shoort cuts.I do also have a memory problem with things such as little things like short cuts due to a bad accident I had years ago.But If I try hard for awhile I should be able to start to remeber them. After 5 years you think I would have already tryed, lol.

this would be eaiser to remember

CTRL-u - Undo
CTRL-r - Redo
CTRL-S - Save

Does this mean you're not aware of ctrl + x, c and v? (Cut, copy and paste). They are right next to Undo on the keyb, and I can't imagine coding without them.

ctrl+f is also one I couldn't live without.

In fact, after reading this thread I just fired up my DBP editor of choice and looked at the menu's. I'm aware that I am not very familiar with any of them apart from the File menu (New project, New Source, Save all and quit! ) and the Help menu (from where I check what version of DBP is installed)

They are control z-x-c-v
because its only the LEFT side of the keyboard.

and before you ask that is a big deal.
Otherwise you have to have hands the size of king kong.
and it isnt ideal to use 2 hands for a 1 hand job.

Things such as print and redo are on the other side because they arnt used often.

I understand this and well, for people like me there should be a work around to this to help me remember, yea shure we all can say it should only be this way but really in any editor there are other options, in some I have worked with they have an editor so you can change the short cuts to what you want.

There's really nothing in Windows that can not be done with just a keyboard.

just a bit OT, but you wouldn't happen to know of a keyboard shortcut (i.e. very low number of key combinations - hopefully only single) for muting and un-muting the volume would you?

yeah, too bad mine doesn't have such nifty buttons; it's just a plain one with function keys and a numpad

You could also add it to the toolbar. At the end of the toolbar is a down arrow. Click it and it brings up "Add or Remove Buttons", click again and select "Customize". On the left side click "Edit" and on the right side drag "Undo" onto the toolbar where you want your new Undo button to be. Put it at the very end far, far away from save if you wish (see attached image).

Daniel, if you have a bad memory, simply write the shortcuts down on a slip of paper and place it on the top of your keyboard. Use as a guide and eventually it will stick

@ Daniel wright 2311:

If you're ok with using alternative IDEs then go with Indigo made by Balid. It's the IDE of choice for many of us (including me). It starts with Undo and Redo on the toolbar (see attached image).

BlueIDE also has Undo/Redo on the toolbar. BlueIDE is the daddy of Indigo and is extremely stable (technically Balid is the daddy though). Don't give up hope... there's one out there for you.
