@Home Studio

If you are using bump you need to have a normal map texture. Your texture file should be named TEXTURENAME_D2.png and the normal map should be named TEXTURENAME_N.png (Only reason I have png file format is that is what I use.) If your using Model Pack 53 you may need more texture files, but I would be 100% what files you need without checking first.

Hope that helps

You also need a _I map I think.

All alone in my room, haven't been outside since 1992.

I tend to favour towards .png only cause of compression as well as when i save it as a .dds through gimp, it causes horrific artifacts.

@Home Studio

Which bump FX file are you using? Is it bumpent.fx or bump.fx?

go into your gunspec and change the effect to effectbank/bumpent/bumpent.fx or effectbank/bumpbone/bumpbone.fx

Wait wait wait, this looks very, very similar to the Call of Duty 2 Kar98k, but lower poly.

For example if you look at the scope texture, you can see the same reflection in it, most notably the grass.

It's the same story with the M1 garand, as someone else pointed out. Either these are ripped from Call of Duty 2 or you're the best person in the world at replicating someone else's work

Forgive me if I'm wrong...

Looks a little difficult to see if it is ripped. maybe he found images of that gun and used that as a ref for modeling it?

It's the same model, just FPSC ruins the smoothing so it looks more blocky. Busted.

I think if you look closely it's not. It looks more of a mix and mash of other TGC models.

I doubt his texture also stretches the same as in COD2.

I'm still not convinced, you could have removed those parts of the model (or it's just reversed). I can still see lots of similarities, it looks as if it's the 3rd person model for CoD2, or FPSC ruined the smoothing as Charger suggested.

The texturing on the scope also looks the same as the Call of Duty image.

Same with the M1 Garand in your other thread, the mark on the side looks the same (attached), and the stock has a very similar shape. Could you post a picture of the model(s) in your modelling app on both sides?

If I'm still wrong, I'm sorry, but there's been lots of people here claiming someone else's work as their own, I hope you can understand my concern considering the similarities.

look:

the yellow parts are very dissimilar: his model's parts are bigger than the cod one
the blue part is smaller and rough than the cod model's part

Home Studio, those models are very nice!

*facepalm*

They aren't similar at all aside from the fact that they are the same gun. Why you would jump to this conclusion so early is beyond me, they look nearly nothing alike in details.

People using the piracy card this early just makes me lose faith in this community...

Yes, it is me.

I don't sell it and I don't get it to my game.

I am a cod2 fan and make it only for me.

The problem you have here is rather simple, even IF home studio's model was an exact replica of COD's model, it could still be HIS model.

For example,

If I was to 3D model an ak47 and its features and I had the exact gun in front of me, another game development company will want to feature the AK47 in there's too, if they had the gun in front of them they would then too model the exact features.

I don't understand, without exact poly count or checks on the source file how you can compare the two? It's insane to do this.

I understand where you may be coming from, but this wild speculation has to stop. If home studios wants to model an AK47 he can't because another company has already modelled it, to exact specification?

Don't be silly. Anyhow, if Activision have a problem with this, I'm pretty sure they will take it up with home studios himself, why is everyone else so keen to play this piracy card?

Ok, it seems that I'm wrong, or at least that's what people say. With that I appoligize to Home Studio, and anyone else I seemed to have ticked off. It looked the same to me, but I guess I was mistaken. If it is yours, then good work, because it's a nice model.

Sorry.

VENT, you know I admire your work and what you do, I wasn't having a direct dig at you, I just think it's about time people started unwinding a little.

There is no way anyone could literally prove whether he took the model directly or its equivalent. I hope you understood my point and didn't take it as a criticism towards your posts!

Edit: With that, I conclude home studio that I hope you haven't ripped this model whether directly or indirectly as you should personally be ashamed of yourself, not only that don't complain when the lawsuits come piling in if you ever rip anyone's work. Kudos to you if it is your work though.
