I don't know why but my lights in my game disappeared! I'm using Beta 14 V1.18.

Here is my setup file...

I'm surprised no one has responded to this. I had the same thing happen, but I don't know what triggered it.

I installed FPSC.
I upgraded to 18-14.

I learned to import many dif prefabs and all looked fine.
Somewhere around the install of model pack 54 my rooms went black, but not all- just a lot.
Example science lab small and some others- black no matter what lights are added. If an entity with light is added- it appears but has no effect on the room. Some prefabs maintain light on ceiling and not walls.

I didnt change anything in setup, but then tried and it didnt help.

Simple really, you guys have obviously been altering/modifying your setup.ini's and game FPI's (as we all tend to do) then when you install BETA 14 it overwrites the lot! Bringing you back to basics, but its not a full reset so its just a case of going through your setup.ini (whilst FPSC is closed) and your game FPI's (including project AND mygame) folders inside languagebank\gamebank to adjust your settings accordingly!

Let me know if this works...

Hi Sting,

That is not the case.
The problem occurred without any change to setup.ini or any other files.
The lighting instructions in the setup files do not help and do not change the issue.
There is an actual texture issue going on that requires tech support.
Only certain textures/prefabs are affected, leaving a totally black room, a black room with lightable ceiling, and from outside (exterior painting) maybe completely invisible and show outside texture as black as well.
Other rooms and textures are completely unaffected.

I believe that the answer/solution is dealing with the old shadow renderer. Although I didn't find any tuts or instructions pointing to it, I finally stumbled upon the setupinit text descriptor and found there, where it says shader discontinued in two sections. so, manipulating these settings fixed the issue.

It can get reset and incorrectly set by using the wrong order/combination of preferences in the main FPSC menu, since there are fewer pref options than init options, I believe it resets one or both of the old shaders.

To help the original poster, I found that if you go to menu preferences and set everything to its highest quality level, exit FPSC, reload and quit, and then open your setup.ini and unclick the discontinued shaders mentioned in the text file, save, load, quit, make sure the settings remain. You should be all set.

You're welcome! Actually I don't know if it actually helped or not.
It seems it may pertain to a lighting/texture issue I finally found on another thread. They said it was fixed from 18 v 13 to v 14, but I am only using beta 14 and still don't have it perfectly fixed yet. A work around until fixed, is to use prefs and choose best quality light/shade and disable shaders. Then, there should be a resolve beyond that hopefully soon

these are the issue, but it is hard to change bc prefs overwrite setup.ini even if FPSC is closed. So, for me, for now, I can only revert to no shaders until it is resolved.
