Greetings and salutations! Well, I have learned a lot and taken a lot from the forums here so I figured it was my turn to give something back to the community

A screenshot of the segment as it appears in game (I just put this together quickly to show what it looks like, no advanced lighting techniques in this example :p ):

Thanks to the release of bond1's excellent normal shader I have been playing with this and tweaking the settings due to the fact that the default settings cause most textures to seem quite glossy and "wet" looking. So, here's one of my ground settings complete with full diffuse, normal, and specular maps, and included a modified version of the infamous bond1 shader (hope that's ok to release for free mods let me know if there's an issue in me releasing this tweaked version) that I softened the glossiness, bump, and specular aspects lending to a much cleaner yet still softly bumpy grassy/rocky ground segment texture.

Hope you all dig it, and any constructive words are most appreciated! Cheers!

It's hard to tell from just the picture, but it looks excellent. Perhaps one of the best terrain textures I've seen here, and they're hard to do well.

Thanks for the kind words guys! well I'm still working with this cause I'm still getting a bit too much specular causing some of the small rocks to "glow" a bit too much, so I'll post an updated version soon as I tweak it some more

So you made that texture youself?

Making someone's day a little better because of one of my models means a lot to me.

Yes... a very cautious yes.

Its used in various texture enhancment mods for games. All of these licenses claim their textures are free to use in other projects noncommercially, but they never provided an adress where the textures actually came from. One had a few forum nicknames, but I haven't found anything googling 'em.

So...I use them in my free projects, but I wouldn't risk to use it in something I want to sell.

@Automatic: Its a nice contribution anyway. Thank you

Hey hey, no I didn't make the original texture, yea it's from a "royalty free" texture site, but yea be careful if you're going to use it commercially. I just used it as an example for taking the ground segment and using the shader but I did make the normal, and spec map for it though

@Wolf Thanks, yea I'm still getting the hang of tweaking normals and trying to get rid of the overglow. I love outdoor terrains and have been trying to get a feel for a more natural "bumpiness" that flows well and is frames per second friendly. Also I've been trying to work out getting a good specular map and shader combination that works well for most grassy/dirt terrains.

Thanks for the feedback all!
