am just wandering seeing that my game is near completion if their is anyway that i would be able to patch my game after release? Seeing its going on steam, i would need to be able to patch the game just in case of an error in the game that causes customer disatisfaction.

also if its not possible that would mean whole updates that would mimick the original size of the game, at this present moment its 8 gigs so that would be a long update

Im also wandering if its also possible to do a dlc patch, much like a free update but would patch on after the customer has baught the dlc, im guessing if patching is possible so is DLC, obviousely id apreciate all the help possible

thanks

P.S

If your all wandering why i havent released any info on the game, i will do in july, closer to the september release of the game, the thread will include the official trailer for the gaame, Screens coz they are mandatory and also a free demo, so you all can play the game before any one else can, also for all forum members the game will release august on the official website at a discounted price as a gift to all you hardworking folk on the forums and my way of giving something to the comunity.

Deathkon 3000 is no longer in production..... and no their was no "curse" its just the fact i couldnt be botherd!

there are some free programs that allow you to transfer files through it if that's what you mean, other than that i haven't seen anything from FPSC that lets you do that.

As That Guy John pointed out in the other thread, it would not be difficult to create a custom updater to distribute with your game (that checks your website for updates/fixes) or use an existing installer (InstallCreator?) containing just the new or updated files.

It just depends which solution will work best for your particular application. That said, I don't know of any generic plug-in for such. On a budget, I would just use something like InstallCreator.

Brian.

ClickTeam does have a patch maker, but it's not very good. I'd recommend searching around on eBay for an old copy of InstallShield, I refuse to use anything else for installers, actually, I do enjoy Smart Install Creator.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

Crispex,
How hard is InstallShield to learn? I am always tempted to try out the LE version for VS, but don't want to spend a week rying to figure it out.

It's fairly easy. Most of it can be figured out by Googling. Here's the jist of it, it's like a wizard that is very basic and easy to use. You can make basic installations. However if you want to go into more detail you can learn InstallScript, which is fairly simple. This allows you to make serial engines, online registrations, etc.

If you want to settle on something less intense, you can use SetupFactory or Smart Install Maker. I think InstallShield is much better though.

Crispex,
Thanks for giving me your opinion on Install Shield, it took me a matter of minutes last night to figure out how to create installers for a couple apps. It is much nicer than the basic one provided with VS. It is so much faster, workflow is better and output is right there once you are done.
