I keep getting an error on FPS. It will be doing something, anything really, and an error will pop up saying that it encountered a problem and needs to close. It says I may have to many levels or to big of one, except that at this point the level is just one room!!! It then suggests uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I've done this 4 times and it still happens. Help!

The message is generic and actually means: Ooops!

Anyway, we will need more info like:

Computer specs
Laptop or desktop
Version of FPSC
Operating system
Stock or custom media
anything else that may be pertinent...

Also,
Make sure you close out other applications before opening FPSC, I get those errors from time to time If I am running Ac3d, PS and Fragmotion the same time as FPSC. I make it a habit to kill everything before opening FPSC.

I'm running windows XP 2002 with service pack 2 on an old Inspiron B130 from Dell with a Intel Celeron 1.40 GHz processor with .99 GB of RAM.
I installed V1 of FPS with all the model packs included in the bonanza. I also installed the 1.17 upgrade.
I then tried to uninstall everything.
I then tried to download 1.18 beta 16.
Since I kept getting the sign I tried it a few more times (uninstalling).
When that didn't work I tried to uninstall FPS but instead tried the repair button.
I'll try closing everything like you suggested.
Thanks!

Oh, also no custom media and I don't know the video card.
Where could I find that out?

Sorry, but the Intel GMA900 Graphics is going to give you trouble. That and your 1.4 Celeron actually runs at about 700MHz, so you don't really meet the system requirements.

Brian.

Just out of curiosity, did you run "CanThisComputerRunFPSCGames" in the Tools directory of FPS Creator?

.99 Gig of RAM?

Can you run NotePad?

Sorry, but with .99 G of RAM, you are not going to be running FPSC.

Haven't checked the min requirements in a while, but are you sure that 512mb isn't for the GPU?

The back of the case does quote 512MB of ram and 64MB of video ram... I'm not 100% certain though that these requirements will cover some of the newer updates though.

It was supposed to be a monkey / kangaroo fire-breathing hybrid. And it would be 70 km tall, and keep a giant laser in it's pouch.

run 115 instead min req is 1ghz 256ram and video card 64 ram. make sure you update direct x9.

the recommend is 2.66ghz 1gb ram 3dvideo card 128mb ram.

you can only run a under 1gb of a level. that why it s tell you level is too big. dont use lightmap turn off full shader. turn down your texture map to 128 x128. your computer can run fpsc just not at its high end part.

more than what meets the eye

Just looked at my case, you are right, but yeah as you mentioned the current requirements I would think far surpass what is needed for that.

The minimum requiremnts are assuring you that you are able to start the executable...not to actually work with the software.

You get good hardware for less money nowadays. Check for online computershops. I'm sure people around here know good ones

I always get parts from NewEgg, unless I run into a really good LOCAL deal on CraigsList.
