Hello my friends, Well as some of you already know, today is old Cosmics Birthday, and I'm in a really good mood. So here is a little something for you all to play with today.

It's just for fun, and I dont recommend use in any commercial works, unless you want to alter the textures, and make them your own.

This is a bit of a teaser to promote an upcoming model pack by Willow. (Which should be released by the end of the week).

Well, enough chatter, Here's "Cosmic's Pinball Collection".

All are highly detailed and each is totaly different, right down to the playing field. There are 26 machines, and a semi-transparent glass top. Have fun, and Enjoy my friends!

Haha! Thanks!

And again! Happy Birthday

Oh boy! My father loves pinball and as a child we spent hours in various café's and every time on the airport when we went out playing matches.

Its a shame that these vanished...I haven't seen one in years.

Don't mean to be a party-pooper; but what license do you have to redistribute these copyright images on the pinball tables, Cosmo? Even if it's just meant for non-commercial projects...

This was brought up awhile back when someone created a vending machine with the Coke/Pepsi logo on it.

I've removed the download for now; but shoot me an email.

Happy B-Day, by the way.

-Keith

Happy birthday CP ol' buddy!

*now the meany mod bit*

You should know better that to distribute media that isn't your own or have no permission for, things like this could lead to a permanent ban and that would be a great loss to the community, especially for all the selfless days of work you create for no reward.

Yeah, I've spoken with Kieth, and explained the alterations that I had made to the Items in question, And he was not quite sure himself if they would be OK. I posted them similarly to the concept of say a "fan project".

So he asked me to e-mail Rick. He said that Rick would Know more about the details on this. Personaly, I dont see the difference between this , and doing say, the "Star Trek" or "Aliens" fan packs, which also contain items, and representations held by the copyrights of the film companies, But I could be wrong.

That will suck if Rick decides that these types of packs should not be made available here. As I have worked hard on the "Star Trek" pack, and Have my "Star Wars" pack in the works. As they contain some logos, and other representations based on the films.

And it would be a shame if I cold not share them with my friends here.

I will e-mail Rick, and find out if these would fall into the same catagory or not. If they, for some reason do not. Then I will of coarse abide by the rules, and take the required slap in the head.

So I'll let you all know what I find out.

Thanks for the kind B-Day wishes everyone!

@Cosmic Prophet

I don't think TGC will have any issue showcasing licensed stuff on the forums but the distribution is more of an issue.

Nice job though and happy birthday!

Nomad Soul: Yeah, I'm not sure what Rick will decide. It concerns me, because if a pack like this is not permitted, even though the models were built, mapped, etc. by me, they contain references to copyright themes, and or, objects that contain such media, it will directly effect other projects of mine that also contain representations of Copyrighted themes, such as my "Star Trek, and Star Wars" fan packs that are in the works.

The rules about distributing copyright material in it's "original unaltered form" is a good, and necessary defense against piracy, and I totally agree with them. But when it comes to this sort of thing, it seems to fall into a gray area that can be viewed in more than one way, depending on one's personal point of view, and varies depending on where you go on the Internet.

Other forums I visit have different guidelines concerning Fan Based media (such as Game Modding sites, etc).

After all, I'm not distributing the pinball machines themselves, merely representations of them. But of coarse whatever the final decision in the matter, I'll abide by them.

For example: When I released my Aliens pack, it contained logos, and copyrighted designs from the films, and there was an overall " I'm not sure" attitude by many users here. And a definitive answer was never given,. It just sort of faded away.

Then when I released my "Big Daddy Dan", which was a blatant Bioshock type character, again there were questions to whether or not it was acceptable. In that case Bond1 made this comment.

Quote: "Looks awesome! And you don't need a mods permission to post this, any more than I need permission to sell a model pack of zombies inspired by L4D.

As long as it's your own work, you could pretty much copy the design down to the last rivet if you wanted to..."

I do wish that this type of thing could somehow be resolved in a more absolute manner, as it has been a topic that has been brought up many times before here, with different opinions from different folks. In other words, if no references to any copyright material can be posted here in any form, Altered or not, then it should be absolute.

This of coarse would kill my fan based projects, as well as those who have similar projects in the works, but so be it. At least we could step out of the gray area, and have a definitive "yes or no" on the subject. And would let everyone who wishes to produce such media, know that they must do so elsewhere.

So I am very curious to hear what the final decision will be.

But if it turns out that this, and similar works are in fact a violation of the forum rules, then I will respectfully leave the community, and continue with my work somewhere else, with no hard feelings toward anyone.

Well Cp, Happy late B-day! Maybe or maybe not, but the download might help your copyright problem. It's only for the US, but scroll down to page 16 section 3. According to this recent document there is no law on copyrights of fan based media, but I am sure someone will make an issue on it.

Good Luck.

Thanks Brother, I read the whole thing. That is good news. So at least I know I have not broken any laws in producing this media. If I am prosecuted, it will not be by the U.S. courts.
