Dark GDK / Can I use particles in 2D game?

When I create a particle effect, I can't see it. Is there a way to use particle in 2d game.in the past ,I mainly use Sprite,but I want to use particles.

was a plugin available for dark gdk that was for particles and it was 2D... dont see it anywhere now though, it was a sticky in this forum for a while.
