Hello forum,

Inspired by Rockstar Games' L.A. Noire's clean texture work, I made some clean textures of my own. This is something very few people do with FPSC - everything is about grunge these days. I understand this because it can be difficult to achieve good-looking results in FPSC using clean textures but I think these turned out pretty good! What do you think?

1024x1024 diffuse maps, 1024x1024 speculars and 2048x2048 normals. Hand made from scratch. As you can see, the depth effect is immense!

Haha, sure is And thanks!

Thought I could use art style like this in my project to give it a unique, game-ish look.

Looks great

I've found that using the bump shader is great to make flat textured objects look like metal aswell.

Now thats really great texture work my friend.

I love the whole look and simply good use of normal maps (which I don't see often around here).
Keep it on and maybe release some of these

well yes. Can make clean textures, but here is few facts because you dont want to use clean textures:

1. Clean texturs must be high res and (if want them good) need good shaders and maps (N,S,I) so its takes many fps on high lvs and that is not good side of FPSC: PERFORMANCE.
So we must use grunge to hide weaknes of FPSC. Grunge can be even 256x256 and still look good.

2. You cant make horror games with clean textures. Everybody use zombies and horror because lower quality and dont need to have good AI.

3. Grunge still looks better.

Memory: 4 GB RAM DDR2
Grapphics Card : NVidia GeForce 210 1 GB

Those are biased opinions and not fact. Though you are entitled to your opinion, yours have no barring on this thread.

The texture work looks really good. Keep it up!

The last shot looks good. The textures are well done and compliment each other. While the textures in the first shots are fine, they just don't work well together.

Nice work.
Brian.

Nothing wrong with clean textures, in my opinion; you can always dirty them up later, can't really go the other way. They look good.
