Pretty fresh install of Win7, I have current updates. I just installed DBP, updated it, installed Matrix1, ImageKit, and Box2D. I ran the IDE as administrator, but I can't compile. Keeps telling me "could not understand command" and highlighting box2d commands. The words are highlighted as keywords but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to have loaded the DLL. It doesn't appear to have loaded ImageKit at all either, including its keywords file. Basically, no 3rd party DLLs appear to work.

I have a laptop running Win7 but it doesn't have this problem.

I've heard that DBPro has problems with windows 7 sp1 and the only fix is to install the u77 rc found at the top of this board. If that doesn't work then could it be your anti virus?

I guess the keywords issue was my own fault, my Win7 isn't installed on the C drive. So now that all keywords are highlighted properly, it still won't even run the Box2D demos. I'm updating DX, hopefully that'll fix the issue, but I doubt it since it's not recognizing the commands.

Well I'm out of ideas. Everything is up to date, Box2D is installed yet DB still will not recognize the commands.

Ok, here's the strange part. For starters, I have XP installed on C: and Win7 installed on W:. I've double and triple checked the plugins' DLLs are in both DBP folders (program files/dark basic on C and W) properly. Running the IDE from W: gives me the "could not understand command at line XX". Compiling the exact same file from the IDE which is installed on C: under XP runs just fine. The program compiled and ran without error. So somewhere in the Win7 install it's looking for the DLLs somewhere else or something. Any thoughts?

So yea I can at least work from Win7 now, but I would like to figure out what the issue is so I can keep my two OS installs separate.

Does box2d appear in the add/remove programs list? Maybe something went wrong with the installation so you could try reinstalling.

You did remember to enter in all of the product keys didn't you

there is no problem between DBpro and windows 7, one option is to install DBpro update 7.7 or you can install your DLLs manualy.

I've lost too many good men to AV software...

I suggest upgrading to U77

I don't think the upgrade to 77 would work. DB runs ok, except for ignoring 3rd party DLLs. Yes Box2D shows up and its DLL is present in the proper directory. Far as I can tell, the installation and setup looks identical to that of my laptop with Win7. It's very strange.

Maybe you should try using a different IDE, I know that Indigo (Program Announcements) lists all of the third party dlls in one of the side windows so you can check which plugins you have installed and should be available to you.

Perhaps i have a similar problem. I downloaded Multisync and put the .dll to plugins-user and the .ini to keywords, as it says in the readme.

However, it does not recognise the commands as keywords, and when i try to compile it, it gives me "could not understand command".

Am i missing some secret step to "refresh" DBP's list of plugins, or is it Windows 7 being Windows 7 again? I'll try reinstalling DBP to somewhere that isn't Program Files. I am running DBP1.077 BTW.

I uninstalled DBP and installed to C:\

Strangely, the first install of DBP is still there! Looking to the directories some things are in the new one that aren't in the other. Some of this might be because some of it got uninstalled, but i swear there are some things in the new install that were't there in the first one.

Ho hum. It works now!
