Is there a complete guide to how to completely upload and execute your server files etc on a 3rd party host.

I know how to do the FTP part myself I was just hoping there was a complete guide so I /and others could follow it from start to finish..

There are quite a few threads about free hosting etc. but there doesnt seem to be any about the actual hosting process.

Thanks in advance

Those would be hosting files for download, not for execution. Unless you purchase a dedicated server from a host you aren't going to find a "web" host that will let you execute stuff you upload. It's to much of a risk to the other clients on the server.

If that's what you're talking about that is...

@Penfold
could you clarify what you mean by "completely upload and execute your server files", as if you know how to FTP then that is the first prt done already, and if you uploaded them to a folder under you www or html folder (depending on your hosting provider), then you should already be able to execute your files...

There are plenty of free web hosts out there, so you don't need to get a dedicated server (for simple scripts). As long as they allow FTP, CGI scripts (or Perl or PHP, etc.) execution, and maybe cron job scheduling, then you should be fine. Other clients should be protected if they have the correct permissions set up on their hosting platform.

A good free (ad free) web host provider I've used in the past is www.000webhost.com check them out to see if they meet your requirements.

I also heard about 000webhost.com but I am using IX webhosting at the moment. I am very satisfied with them but I will definitely check their offers. If you use 000webhost.com do they place many offers on your own website? I would not want ads on my website.

I'm using 000Webhost and they've been appalling. They've erased my MySQL database twice, deleted my whole website once, and I have recently again lost access to my database. (They've just told me to create another one)

They don't put adverts on your website fortunately.

Check out my website at www.teamdefiant.co.uk and see for yourself the state it's in.

I'd suggest someone else. If the free service is this bad, I'm never going to pay for it!
