Checking the forums for a working ftp plugin brought me to Nic Raboy's dll. Yesterday, I talked to Nic and he added 2 new functions - 'ftpuploadbinary' and 'ftpuploadascii'.
I highly recommend Raboy's dll as it works seamlessly in DBP and provides 100% of the code required to upload and download files from an ftp server. I am writing a program to use as a Photo kiosk for my clients, and this code allows transparent 'background' processing of the files to my server. With the National Braodband Network being rolled out in Australia I predict more people will use on-line services. Programming in DBP creates code and user experiences far beyond web based applications (although this will cahnge in time) and the ability to communicate with a server reliably and easily is paramount.

Many thanks to Nic and his gracious attitude. The new version of Nic's dll will be upoladed in the next couple of days.

Are these commands faster than standard DB ones? I only ask as I have had little problems using ftp in the past and wonder why use a plugin? I am wary of using plugins mainly because of needing to include all required dlls when sending a program to someone to test. I have found some plugins still interfere like that even if you do not use any of their commands.
Still if it is an improvement to DB's it sounds a useful plugin!

No they are not faster, the ftp commands are built into Windoes, so the call is taken over by the operating system, and not returned until it is finished, or fails, so you have to test the success/failure in your code. The supplied sample has it all.
I have not found the dll to 'compete' with other commands.
The usefulness or not depends on what you want to achieve. Creating directories on the ftp is a 'must' in my books.

Don't know, but version posted 26th May (above) works fine. Have also found another version of ftp control that is threaded, so you can make a progress bar and run animation while it's uploading or downloading. Attached.

I'm glad that the DLL is working for everyone.

If anyone needs to download it, I keep the latest version in the downloads section of my personal profile website.

Thanks for showing appreciation
