Thanks! just working through a few issues and they should be up soon. I also added the Dr.Gas model in the Horror characters section. It's free so if you didn't get it in the past then give it a gander. I'm working on some more cowboys and buildings for a western town. Shouldn't be too long now.

If you are looking into uncommon FPSC genres, maybe you should some early-mid 1900's mob and gangster characters and props.

On a side note, what are your rates for custom media?

Thanks guys! Mobsters eh? They may get pretty popular with the release of La Noir. as for custom rates $80 for an exclusive character. Other stuff is negotiable.

I do have one thought (one thought is about all I can muster) and a small critique...

First, the critique... the character wearing the duster probably would have the holster under the coat, but that's not a deal-breaker! After talking to you I understand why it's otherwise.

Second, the thought... I'm seeing that some of the great characters on these boards have some level of custom animations. Now, that's not a necessity (and I understand the size of a request like that), but it would make these stand out a lot.

I've got a Western I've been working on for awhile... but no characters! Can't wait for you to release these through the store... and more you say!? I'm there!

For those prices I may be enlisting your aid... Hmmmmmm....

I can't wait for these...!!!! Ok, I'll breathe now...

these are great. you should make a large variation of character textures.say like 20 in all. think anyone that makes a type of model for fpsc should do a large amount.have only 4 or 5 cant make a game out of it. if i was to take you cowboys and some else cowboy and put them together most of the time it wont look right because everyone here models on a different level. some are more advance than others like bond1. if i was going for a western theme I would make some horses with this. this theme you came up with you should do a lot more with it because this would be a gold mine theme.fpsc lacks in a western theme of models so this open a new type of theme for fpsc in WIP thread. You should model some cowboys on horses that would be cool.

@CapnBuzz- I see what your'e talking about with the holster and will take that into account with future releases. As for custom animations I did give it a go. I replaced the entire pistol holding animation set to a one handed gunslinger animation; Unfortunately it did not work out. the guns always appeared upside down, backward as well as on the other side of the hand, so I gave up on it and used the standard animation set.

@michael x- I do plan on releasing quite a few more including non enemy townsfolk. I'm working right now on 4 characters to fit with the western buildings I already created. So far a bartender and sheriff is done. When I get 2 more done I will work on some more bad guys. I'll be releasing them in 4's. After the next 4 villains are released I will work on some female models in the western genre. I do have some other props I'm working on as well such as low poly horses as well as stagecoaches and wagons. I don't think there will be much of an end to me making western store items. I'm just waiting for TGC to approve these guys and they will be up soon. Pics of the next 4 will be coming up very soon!

Thanks for the interest everyone.

Releasing them individually, that way we don't have to wait a huge amount of time. Three of the next 4 are done already and I've already started on number 4. The 4 above should be approved by this weekend unless an error occurs. Still waiting to hear back about the fix I already sent in.

All of these are great!
I've been wanting to do a western for along time. (These would make a great movie!)
I can barely wait to retexture the Thug Talker into a Bar tender look alike for close shots of him talking.

Please, don't forget the Indians.

@Conjured Entertainment_ Thanks! The re-texture of the thug/talker is a great idea! I do plan on doing two Indians and two trappers next.

@CapnBuzz_ Thanks! Honestly there's no real end to how many I'll make. I'll just keep releasing them in fours with variations on clothing, hats, facial hair ect. I wanted to get some basics out there before I start heading to my Western DVDs and blue-rays to start creating similar characters to the silver screen spaghetti westerns and such. The next will be two Indians, and two trappers. Following these will be four females in dress of the time-(townswoman, ranch maid, saloon-girl, and old widow.)More buildings as well as a western segment system may be made soon.

I'd love to see a whole slew of Western games made with FPSC as it is perfect for the genre. Heck , look at Froggy Shootout, that was a great example (unique as well) of where FPSC could make a great western. I just hope I could advance the cause of getting another great genre going as those like Cosmic Prophet have. When these guys get approved I hope you all enjoy.

What is taking so long to get them in the store???

I see there were things added to the store recently (yesterday even), so I am confused about why it is taking so long for these.

Have you heard back from them yet?

I'm not quite sure. They work perfectly fine for me on 2 separate computers. They reported the first time that they just stood still. The new report is they attack now but only a close combat attack(with no damage) and have no weapons in hand. I'm baffled as I said they work well on two computers -one running with FPSC v1.15 (last build before new shaders introduced) and one with FPSC v1.18.16.(the very latest build of FPSC). I just re-exported them, again as well as used a perfectly working fpi based on the ww2 officer and only changed relevant entries. In the meantime I made 2 trappers and one native American(still need to make one more as well as work on the texture for the first), then I can start on the female townsfolk.here is a sneak peek of 3 of the next 4.Hopefully soon they will be available for sale.

What's required is the final 'stable' update, and I have gone beyond that. bottom line is they work, just not on TGC's comp. It's not as if I am sending files that FPSC is creating; it's my .dds,.x,.fpi, and .bmp icon. All these components are separate from FPSC. They work on my systems, so I'm willing to bet it's something on TGC's side at this point.

Interesting.
Do you mind if I ask how much you had planned on charging for them?

Quote: "Hopefully soon they will be available for sale."

I would be willing to send you some money via PayPal, if you would let me buy some of them 'as is' to test.
I'd love to help figure this out and see them make it into the store. (no guarantee I can resolve it, but it couldn't hurt to take a look)

Depending on price I would like the four that have the Bartender.
I also like the Mexican with the Sombrero.

Which ones were said to have the problems?? (which ones dd TGC test, the first 4?)

@Conjured Entertainment-I'm going to have them for 175 points each which equals up to $1.75 a piece. From what I understand it was the first 4 that they tested. I'll mail you tonight on your offer. Have some things I have to deal with right now so the mail may come late tonight.

Cool
I have v118 beta 10 on this netbook, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow anyway to test with v118 beta 17 on the laptop.

Thanks in advance

I just sent you an email, in case you didn't have my email address already.

Bump

Here is a video of the test I ran using v118 beta 17.
The characters work fine for me on my end. (they have guns and they attack from far away)
Maybe someone at TGC was testing with one of the older version and experienced a bug, or something.

@ Disturbing13
I would email them and ask for a re-test.
Maybe the file got corrupted, so sending a new zip wouldn't be a bad idea either.

EDIT
I sent you an email with 2 scripts, a hud, and a readme file for your request, so let me know if the effect is okay, or if you need any changes.
I also sent you a second email with an attachment of a video of the effect in action, but the mail server rejected it because it was too big. 7.8 mb

Wow thanks for the vid to show they work and scripts to help with my game. Glad to see they work fine on your system. The retesting should be done by this weekend hopefully. I still haven't received anything from TGC on their status good, bad or otherwise. I will finish the Native American model's texture as well as the second native american by this weekend. The females will follow shortly. Once again Conjured, Thanks for the demonstration.

Ok, so I can't stop visiting this thread!

I'm really excited about your work. With Starmind's and Cosmic Prophet's, the Old West is slowly taking shape in FPSC.

There are so many aspects of the Wild West that haven't been explored/modeled on these boards (or by FPSC), it'll be interesting to see where you go with it.

Well four more have been uploaded. Still no word on approval for any of them yet. I'll write them today and ask if there has been any progress. Anywho, here are the next four, I am starting on 4 females now for various scenes. LOL, by the time the first 4 get approved I may have enough for a whole pack. I may just talk to TGC about that as well. Here are pics for the next ones awaiting approval.
Thanks CapnBuzz! I'm pretty excited myself. Any objects or character types you may think could be included in a pack would be helpful since I may do a pack with these guys, official or just from my site. I'm still wondering about the next 4 characters right now.
Thanks as well S4real , when I can get a better understanding of it I probably will release some supplemental ai scripts for these guys. Just getting them approved with the bare bones is hard enough right now, but definitely thanks for the advice!

Disturbing13,

You should do a pack!

As far as possible ideas...

* Chinese railroad workers or Tong
* Prospectors
* Cavalry and/or Buffalo Soldiers
* Mexican Soldiers
* Mexican civilians and Priest/Friar

Good ideas all of them.
*Chinese workers are a definite necessity in rail and mining towns. I'll do some historical research on their clothing tonight
*Prospectors are already on my list as well as prospecting equipment, such as panning trough systems.
*Cavalry and Buffalo soldiers is a good idea as well. I just have to get my horse model fleshed out a bit more before tackle something like that.But yes, horse and rider is definitely a necessity.
*Mexican soldiers already on my list as well as
*Mexican civilians, Priest/Friar, and a mexican style town and buildings. I'm working on a system for enterable buildings useing segments right now, I just want to finish the ladies before I tackle those. Buildings would be much easier to pop out rather quickly.
Once again , great Ideas, all of them.Thanks

Hey disturbing13,
I ran into a animation glitch in the characters when testing on my netbook.
I'll try to repeat it now on this computer and I'll post a video if I have the same problem in v118.

Yeah, it did it on this computer too.
Their legs do a loop when they go from standing to crouching or from crouching to standing. (see attached video)
Maybe taking off one frame from the animations could be a quick fix, or something similar.
Does this happen to you, or is it only on my end?
I'm not trying to bad mouth the models or anything, I'm just pointing this out so if it is a bug you can fix it before the release.

No this is not just you, It happens to me in some occasions, but it is a milkshape/fragmotion/fpsc thing. Just wondering if anyone else out there has this same glitch and if they fixed it? They used to kick to the side till I fixed that with an export from Fragmotion. Now Fragmotion offers a new glitch. Jeez will it ever end? seems like if you don't have the money for 3ds max your kinda screwed in some form or fashion. Conjured, I'll give this a go and see if removing the first frame works. I'll report back soon.

EDIT:it did nothing but make things really awkward by removing the first frame. When placeing the model it uses the first frame of animation which is being blown back; this in turn sinks the character up to his ankles in the ground and does nothing for the leg flip thing. I've heard about this from many others. Perhaps using darkai commands would change this.Right now I am using basic FPSC fpi files just to keep it simple. Any help would be appreciated.

I was using the dark ai ally appear and dark ai main weapon for the main.

Keep checking the store... they're killing me! ha.

Disturbing13,

Thought of a few more ideas if you need inspiration...

* Deputy
* Texas Rangers (always liked their badge)
* Pinkertons
* African American characters (there were quite a few in the West)
* Maybe gunfighters somewhat based on Spaghetti Western characters (ie Django, The Man With No Name, Sabata, etc.)?

I received a mail from TGC saying they will get on it as soon. I sent them via mail one of the zipped characters to see if it may be something like the TGCStore not liking my zip program. I hope it's that simple. The ladies are almost done, and soon I will start on Western buildings again, but this time it may be an enter-able system using segments as well as typical non-enter-able ones. If worse comes to worse I will set up a store page and sell via Paypal, but I'm hoping that TGC and I can get this figured out. Pics coming soon of the ladies.

Nothing yet. was supposed to hear from them after they got back from holiday. S4real is working with DarkAI right now to see if he can get them to work properly. Time will tell, and if not I'll release them as a pack and sell them on my site through Paypal.
