I understand you. I use Autodesk Inventor at work and Alibre design at home.

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is yes but:

There are 2 issues with additive geometry modeling (Solid works, Inventor, etc) versus mesh deformation modeling (Blender, 3d max, maya, etc) is the lack of polygon control. It is very tricky to control how many polys a model will have careful planning is required. The other issue is they will not do UVW mapping on your models. You will need something like Lithunwrap. To rig them to a hand model you can use fragmotion, etc.

However, if your like me and are used to a program like solid works, than things like blender or Fragmotion can seem completely backwards and awkward. That's why I bought Alibre to model and design at home. I might have to take a few extra steps but I make up for it in speed. Modeling a car takes me about 15 minutes in Alibre and about 2 days in something like blender. So I can justify a few minutes of opening and closing programs. This is not to knock blender, there are great artists on this forum that are geniuses with it. It just does not fit my modeling style.
