Well, let's see here. I think this is a great idea, but I'm not sure how realistic it is.
For a console, you'd need a few parts to consider. First, the components.
Custom Motherboard - $80
CPU - $120
GPU - $100
4 GB RAM - $40
Hard Drive for OS - $30 (I don't think they make them 2GB nowadays)
CD/DVD Drive - $20
Custom Casing - $20
These minimalistic parts add up to over $400. You can't offer something like this for a console that runs games from a single game engine. Companies like Microsoft and Sony actually lose money off of each console they sell, but they make up that revenue through their games, media distribution, and purchasing sources like Xbox Live. For each console you'd make, you'd lose a substantial amount of money because of the lack of media and content variety.
Secondly, and I'm not totally sure of this, but I doubt there's more than a few thousand people who own FPSC. That small of a user base would limit sales and the general popularity of your console. I think it's best we just stick with PC's. A couple month's ago I started a thread about making an official FPSC development and gaming PC for $499, but that didn't come to fruition for lack of support. The reason my idea could have worked is because it was a PC, so there were the infinite multitude of other things you could do with the computer other than FPSC, making it invaluable for its low price.
Don't get me wrong, your idea was fantastic and it really made me think. I imagined myself having an FPSC console, and I must say, I liked the idea of it. But everything that makes FPSC so...homely is its custom media, mods, and forums, all of which sadly can't really be incorporated to a single platform of a console.
