Hey all

I'm in dire need of advice and help here.
For a while now I have been coding on my notebook (windows XP) saving all files to the SD card.
Then one day I took the SD card out, put it into my other laptop (windows 7)and continued coding.
Then I put it back into my netbook and continued there.

Now from my netbook when I compile it completes the compile but the EXE doesn't actually launch, it closes down as soon as its open.

I've made sure all files are still pointing to the right location.
I have re-installed Darkbasic
I have tried compiling from another user account
I have done a 'repair' on Darkbasic
I have doubled checked the compiler (Tools - options) and its pointing to the right place.

I'm now at a lost as to what I can do. It's possible that in the time the SD card was in my laptop something else happened on my netbook, but I'm not sure what.
I just wondered if anyone else had come across this problem, or has any advice?

The latest version of DBP is U76 so you could try upgrading to that. One other thing it could be is your anti-virus. Try turning it off and then compiling (make sure you're not doing anything risky like going on dodgey sites while your anti-virus is off).

I don't know what you mean!

Well I have just installed U76, thanks for pointing that out to me. Looks better!

It's still shutting down my exe as soon as it opens though :-(. I've turned off all anti virus for now, any more ideas?

Sounds like you have W7 service pack 1 installed, in which case you need DBPro version U77 beta.
Do a search on "service pack 1" as this problem has been covered several times now.

Hi Juney

I'm not convinced this is the same problem other people have experienced, it's not a problem with Windows 7, I can compile and run the game fine from my Windows 7 machine. The problem is when I then compile and run the very same project from my Windows XP machine the EXE no longer works.

I'm sure it's the steps I took that caused the issue but I just cant understand why or how.

Step 1
Code in windows XP - compile and run game fine.

Step 2
Move all project files onto a SD card

Step 3
Open project in Windows 7, making sure all file locations and export location are still pointed to the SD card.

Step 4
Compile and run on Windows 7 - game runs fine.

Step 5
Put SD card back into Windows XP machine, making sure all file locations and export location are still pointed to the SD card.

Step 6
Compile and run on Windows XP - Compiles fine but EXE closes down as soon as it opens.
