For the gladius, the blade is too short. But other than that the textures look great. Maybe make the metal on the blade with a little less contrast.

looks a lot worse, very messy and unrealistic, better of keeping it metal looking, or if youre gonna spray something on it, atleast make it blood and not so over exaggurated

it looks very cartoon ish try working from reference photos to give you a better idea of what the real thing looks like.

though not always a bad thing but if he was aiming for realism then yea not a good thing.


I would suggest looking up some metal texture tutorials, I know henry has one i think on his website.

edit: throwing some flirting to henry in here: for the record, i have based my whole way of texturing metallic stuff of that tutorial x)

The model was made for a 3rd person game for the NPCs.
But I will check out some metal tuts.

thats irrelevant to how it looks though, just the amount of polygons & texture size.

Wether it looks cartoonish or realistic should depend on the game setting
