Hello all , I am taking on a project I like to call FPS-Craft, And am trying to model some stuff for it in SketchUp, Something cool I like about this project are that it is helping me model, but since minecraft's quality wasn't Crysis, It makes it easy. Right now I can only make models and texture, I have no clue how to model. If anyone could point me in the direction of a free animation program that would be great. Also I would like if anyone would want to help out with this by making a script or something so I can make blocks that if you left click place, and right click destroy and pick up a block. It would be easy for the destroy and pick up thing, Just make so if the entity is destroyed it spawns a ammo pick up for it. Only thing I have no idea to do is script. To avoid this being closed for Team Request I will show that I am not simply saying HEY GUYS HELP ME MAKE THIS, And that I actually am putting work into this. Right now I only have a sword done. (Cool thing about minecraft weapons is, No hands - Easy animating I believe.) Anywho, Picture of sword in SketchUp, Thanks in advance btw.

You should consider using something other than Sketchup... trust me. It may seem easy at the beginning, but as you go on, you realize how bad it is for game modelling. Take my advice and use a REAL modelling program (like blender or milkshape. I personally recommend the latter)and you will be able to take this a lot farther.

For example. i can create that same sword in milkshape probably in less time than it took you to make in sketchup. If you do need any help, my email is in my profile

Cheers,
Anayar

Hello anayar,

Thank you for your input, I did not take much time however for the sword in SketchUp, I tried using blender but I am not a fan of dull backgrounds. It makes modeling not that fun to me. That and It is a bit complicated, I will continue to use SketchUp until I feel it is holding me back if you get what I mean. Thanks for offering help, I will be sure to email you. Even better however, Do you have a MSN?

I have had BAD experiences with MSN (some people here know what I mean). You can email me anytime you want.

Oh and the dull background is no excuse. You can change that in the "Themes" menu. I still strongly persuade you to learn to model.

Cheers,
Anayar

Fragmotion is an EXCELLENT free animation program. Believe me when I say it really is free. For modeling while staying simple I highly recommend Wings 3d. It is entirely GUI based, so you don't need to learn any hotkeys. Just by watching about three tutorials on youtube you can start creating anything. Very little learning curve, and by clicking random things you can figure out how it works pretty quickly. Just continue modeling simple things like dog houses, desks, simple objects until you are ready to try harder things.

Hello Design Runner,

Thanks for posting about Fragmotion. I downloaded straight away and I sadly could not find any tutorials on how to animate weapons or such.
If you could help me with that , That would be great.

This one is excellent, though silent.

To be completely honest, I don't believe this is a good idea. The map size is much too small, and in order to make even the basics of the non-classic mode would require much more than FPSC can offer. As much as I would love to make a Minecraft remake, FPSC is not the engine to make it with.

Also for the sword, you could just easily have a plane with the texture applied. Saves polies and saves some frame-rate..
