ok i have some textures that are already shader ready my problem is im not shure which texture to use since there are 5 different textures? so my main questions are?

which textures out of the five do i use to get my shader fx and i do no that the d texture is a diffuse texture and that it is important ps. im still learning?

what spots do i place the desired texture or textures in? i see the slots that say wall and floor which is were they would probly go right? do i place the diffuse texture in the floor slot or what kind of texture?

then you have a user settings spot that has a texture settin for shaders how do i use it and do i need to use it ?do i have to place something in that spot?

i have made rooms out of doomsters tool before but they have either been non shader ready or all white rooms? i just need help figuring out how many textures to use since there are five and which textures to place were for my shader ready rooms?

sorry for the dumb question i just wanna learn so i do not have to bugg people all the time!! thanks i hope somebody can help out i am stumped!!

example of one of the textures

metal_wall_14_s truevision

metal_wall_14_r truevision

metal_wall_14_ r j peg

metal_wall_14_n truevision

metal_wall_14_ h truevision

Well, you would choose the normal texture (D2). Then make sure you have the required maps in the same folder as the original texture and .fps etc etc. Now open the .fps of the texture and there are some lines there that you appply the shader path to. This is the long way of doing it but maybe the model maker has a different option, dunno. Bootlicker had a great tutorial about applying shaders to ents/segs. Maybe he will pop along and link it. About that line in the fps file I was talking about, I forgot which one it is. I'll look it up for you.

EDIT
Here's the tut:

When you want to create segments that have shaders applied you have to open the Settings, choose the shaders you want (click the button beneath the Wall and Floor fields to open the file selection dialog) and check the Activate Shaders box.

Also, since the textures you listed in the first post are missing an _I texture that is required by bond1's segment shaders, you have to uncheck the Detect Shader Textures option (which will automatically select the shaders if they already have the right names; Texture_D2.extension, Texture_I.extension, Texture_N.extension), and select the shader textures by yourself, just leave the Specular field blank and put the _S texture into the Illumination field.

Check this video to see how it's done: Download (18.7 MB).
