So, I have created a slug for a game of mine. I have made the animations that I require but I have had no luck getting the slug to work in game, no matter how many scripts I edited. Basically, it is a slug that moves towards the player and attacks, with just a simple death animation.

The animation frames are:
Move - 1,40
Attack - 50,70
Die - 80,95

I was wondering if anyone could create a simple set of scripts that would allow my slug to move towards me, attack me and die when it has no remaining health. Or at least point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

I have also attached an image so you can see what I am working with:

Could you show us the FPE File?

Cheers.

I don't have any script for it, I tried modifying the melee10 script that comes with FPSC, but it didn't work. I was wondering if someone would be able to make the script or tell me how I should do it.

Alright, thank you a lot for the help. I will study from the script you make so I can learn to make my own in the future. Scripting has never been my strong point.

Thanks, it worked! Now my only problem is that I can't seem to get it to register a hit on the enemy unless its in a very specific place. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Yes you will get that if you scale the character to big.

Open it up in your model program and scale it bigger there.
Change the scale in the FPE file to reflect the size that you changed. (scaleup in model prog = scale number lower in FPE file)Reexport it and clear the .dbo and.bin file.

You should get better hits.
Bottom line is. Try to get the model the right size and only use the scale for fine tuning. All the collision is based from where the insert point is. (green dot center)

Hope this helps more.

Thanks, I'll try that out. I had it scaled to 500.

@darimc

If you set up limb detection in the .FPE you should be able to get away with large size without messing up hit detection. (If you're using v1.18)

This is hopeless... I took the advice but now whenever I export it, using milkshape or fragmotion, it appears invisible in game for no apparent reason. It was working before, it just stopped though. I guess FPSC doesn't want me having custom characters

Can you zip up the x file and textures and files and scripts, and post them. Maybe include a .obj file of the mesh and I will look at it.
Usually when a character cant be seen, and your using a skinned mesh shader effect, the mesh has become unnassociated with the bones. Check you model program that after scaling down the mesh, that it still follows the animation you intended.

I do like Errants Idea, thou I have not messed with Limb detection a lot yet.
I convert a lot of characters for the project I am in. And sometimes it takes a few shots to get them. But the rewards are great when they finally work.
