I have created a game but all entities (enemies/items/doors etc) are ignoring the lighting system and are always highlighted/lit up.
I remember having this problem with the default settings before (soon after the FPSC was released), and I changed the setup.ini and it fixed it fine - but now most of the lighting options in the setup.ini have changed as the builds have progressed, and I can't figure out how to fix it. Here are my current settings:

"useeffectsonentities=0"

Have you tried changing to "1"?
To make sure it holds the change close FPSC before saving init change.
delete temp folder.
Then do a test build and open init again to make sure it did not change.
I don't know if this helps but worth a try.

Thanks for the advice cds but it didn't work - it's pretty vital I get it fixed as it's a horror game so it doesn't really work if things can't walk out of the shadows

Could you maybe post a screenshot of what your problem is? I may have this same error myself, and it's been making me mad... But a screenshot or video will help people figure out what's wrong..

Sure, I've pasted together a few examples from the beginning of my game - so frustrating as the game's ready for release apart from this pretty major bug

Yea i have that same problem, are you using dynamic or static lights? And have you tried to change the shaders for the zombies? You may not be able to as they might not look right, but at least you could try? Just try to experiment with different things until you find something that works. I don't think it has anything to do with setup.fpi, its more of your light placement and other such things in your level. Or im wrong again, but just experiment with different things! Hope this helps!

A couple of questions...

1. Are shaders turned off?
2. Is Bloom on? (Dont have 1.18 atm so cant remember the specs for postprocessing).

Cheers,
Anayar

@anayar - Details in my setup.ini posted above - although it seems to have reverted to bloom (1) in the actual build, HDR has the same effect though

@Exu Corporations - Funny you said that Exu, I've been experimenting with different shaders, from none at all (for doors (doesn't work)) to using 'mp22_ati.fx' which seems to work on very few enemies but the issue is still present on most enemies/all entities

Is there an updated 'mp22_ati.fx' or something similar that works universally? (sorry, bit of a noob)

Not that i know of, but have you searched around on the forums a bit? You might want to start a thread in Product Chat and ask if anyone knows where to get that file, or if someone has it and are willing to give it to you... But that's just an idea

Have you pressed the < and > keys to reduce the ambient light?

Is it just the characters and doors or is it more than just them? I had this probem for a while, it just managed to fix istelf. I had been doing various things with FPS Creator when it fixed, so yeah. Have you tried reinstalling it?

Defiler: As the entire area is dark, I'd be pretty sure he has. x]

As Ikey said, I have indeed lol, the ambient light is currently set to 3

Yeah, I never used to have this issue, did a fresh install for the latest release as I was having other issues - that why I was wondering if this bug is a result of the latest update

It seems to just be the dynamic entities, so enemies (although 'mp22_ati.fx' has seemed to fixed the zombies from the zombie apocolyse pack somewhat (also downgrading their quality but hey, it's better than it was before)), doors, health packs, weapons, ammo

Is there an 'effect' you can apply that makes it ignore the lights in the level as this would at least fix all the doors/collectables?

Due to the nature of FPS Creator, it may just be me. But with shaders on most entities show up bright in low ambient light. Even, if they have no effect set or shader images. For me the “Files\effectbank\ps_2_0\bumpent.fx” seems to work really well at eliminating the problem. For character entities, I think this gives a cool effect in dark levels. Looks even better with the, postbloom effect.

I had this problem i think. Its either a bloom problem or your using dynamic lights too much. Either way, if you search coz (as in creator of zombies) in the thread search theres a horror shader making it so things can come out of the shadows.

@Ninjakiller - thnx for the link, COZ is awesome, his shader looks a little better than mp22_ati.fx. It still doesn't work on enemies from all packs though (see attached) and I still have the problem with all other entities. Is there not an equivalent shader for objects?
With bloom off the issue is slightly better on enemies but not other entities. Also my lights are all static and set to low levels.

@Crimson Night:

Oh jeez that screwed up. I don't know of any other shaders designed to make characters darker or for that matter objects though.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
