I installed Dark Basic Pro 5.4 and then ran the 7.6 upgrade. When I open the program I get the old version of the IDE(the one with the project summary on the right).

Is there something else I should have updated?

What do you get when you click Help/About for the DBPro version?

I thought the new editor was included in all the latest upgrades. Perhaps I was wrong?

It is, or should be but I don't think it has been set as the default editor because you installed it on top of 1.054. Have a look in your program files, find where dbpro has been installed (usually in a folder named the game creators), find the editor folder and there should be an application called "EditorNew" and run that.

Before you do run it however, if you are running windows 7, go to the properties of EditorNew, go to compatability and check the "Run as administrator" box. Then run it. If you don't do this, you may get a flood of errors.

I am running Windows 7 (should have told you that - sorry).

Run as administrator seems to be the answer. If I double click to open DB Pro I get the old IDE. If I right click and run as administrator I get the new one.

Thank you for your help.

I would never have guessed that to work like that but glad it worked out
