Not sure if this should go in bugs or not - it's just something odd I've noticed. Normally, when I test a level, it'll give me 30 - 40 fps. I've been working on a medium section of a city, and I was testing it with a common 25 - 35 FPS. I then began to trimline, removing parts you'd never get to, etc. I removed about quarter of a map and around 5 full buildings, a few smaller entities. Then added about three new street lights and it's suddenly dropped down to a constant 12? Anyone else ever seen this? I don't have more programs running or anything - it's just happened.

What's the range on your lights for the new street lamps?

Try knocking your texturemap size down and light setting quality down to 16-32, should cover it!

Yes, I've had it happen to me but I've never been able to figure it out. The only help I can give you is to tell you this. Save often and save multiple copies. Create a little, save as Level1. A little more, save as Level1_a, then Level1_b and so on. Then when it goes bonkers you can go back to the last good save.

It's a daytime map - so it doesn't even have any new lights placed. Just the entities.

Xplosys, thanks for the advice. I've had this problem before - done exactly that. Just a pain because all three of my computers (2 laptops and 1 pc) managed to kill themselves and I've had to restart from scratch. :/

This problem could probably do with some looking into if it's not just me. :L

Confusing.

I've run the cleaner - for other reasons - several times, so it's not anything to do with that. I've removed as much as I can without losing any of the feel to the level - a suprising amount - and it's not even increased it there. I'll get to work on dismantling it if no one has any ideas in lets say, an hour. ;/

Hell, I've just realised I forgot to even change the light map settings - their on default still. This is getting more and moer confusing as I go. My new PC isn't top of the range, but it's not all that bad either - it's above the specs for FPSC.

2.00 GB ram, 1.75 GB available,
Quad core, 2.3 Ghz.
Geforce 8200, 882mb.

I've run more demanding levels on my laptop!

Anyway, I'll be looking at this problem. Didn't edit because it's not working for some reason... :S
