I have been using fpsc for a few months now and needless to say I am addicted. I am well into the design of my first "real" level/map. However I am unhappy with the shading on the bad guys in the level. I have the level lighting where I want it, but the bad guys don't really "pop." Is there a free utility out there that I can use to at least make them a little more interesting?

Also I recently purchased the metro theater pack, mostly for the water effects, however with the shading off they appear blue and look more like a puddle of spilled paint as opposed to the transparent look. This is fixed by turning the shaders on in the preferences but then the bad guys come up all black. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance

The water in the metro theatre pack requires shaders to work.

The blackened characters is as you've guessed, another shader issue and is dependent on the characters you are using. Which ones are you using?

You also have to make sure that you have the specific textures for your enemy characters. I don't know them off the top of my head but I think it's _D2 _D _N _I

N is the normal map, you have to make that. I use adobe photoshop 32bit with normal map maker from Nvidia. I requested bootlicker to make a shader thread awhile ago explaining how to put shaders onto things. Look for shader tutorials from bootlicker. He explains it all in an easy fasion.

Then in the editor and in the character .FPE you must assign a shader. The shader has to be for characters however.

If this all fails, you can try adding a dynamic light. This is sometimes known to help get rid of the black on characters.

Maybe post a screen shot of what you mean and maybe one of another game that you want it to look like and we can help you get from point a to point b.
