Thank you. I had originally done this pack to show my son what I could do. Then I decided to go ahead and sell it because I want to use the profit for my son in the hospital.

I worked very hard on this pack, and I am kinda proud of myself.

I worked very hard on this project, and from all the comments about it from my free media post, I really thought you guys would want it. $10.00 is a fair price to ask for. It has made me very disappointed that if I had gave this pack away, everyone would grab it, but now since I put a price on it, all of a sudden no one wants it.

The main reason I wanted to sell this pack, is for the same reason I did it in the first place, my son. He wants a few things to do in the hospital. He wants a couple of plastic model car kits and 3D puzzles and I want to get them for him.

The one thing that I have just now realized is that, the only models that I am really good at, no one is interested in. So with that being said, I am not making any more furniture packs!

I am working on a new pack, and IT WILL be for sale. Just to show what type of pack it is going to be, here is a screen shot.

That basically sums up the forum: 90% of the people will grab anything that is free (expect for Official MP's) while the rest of the 10% will sit back and think about purchasing and/or have the skills to make their own models. I would gladly have purchased this except for the fact that I have no use for it ATM (that and my paypal is dried out, but thats a different story) as I dont make games (plus I love modelling my own stuff). To make a decent profit from anything, you cant hope to just market it to these boards... which is why I am getting my Massive Overlay Pack Unity and UDK ready... 3 times the people to sell to equals three times the profit

Quote: "The one thing that I have just now realized is that, the only models that I am really good at, no one is interested in. So with that being said, I am not making any more furniture packs!"

Dont take it to heart Willow, the models are AMAZING! Its jsut that what I said above applies to all types of models... not furniture in particular

Quote: "I am working on a new pack, and IT WILL be for sale. Just to show what type of pack it is going to be, here is a screen shot."

That looks really nice... I love the illumination! What is it?? A weather station?? A control base? Anyways, the model looks good... only crit is that the bod looks too clean... you might want to grunge it up a little; bring it into the real world so to speak.

So, just wanted to say that I personally think your models are amazing and really hope you dont take this to heart.

P.S: Ill let you ion on a little secret lol; Try offering a small (maybe 25%) discount for the first week and throw in somethign free for maybe the first 10 buyers... I assure you that it always works

Cheers,
Anayar

I would buy it no problem but since I don't really use fpsc for it's intended purposes (content creation) I would have no use for it.

Although I could use these when/if I get into animation, as they're nice clean models which would look superb with a nice render. As soon as I've got my paypal set up and an application I'm comfortable with, here will be the first place I go.

Quote: "the only models that I am really good at, no one is interested in. So with that being said, I am not making any more furniture packs!"

I would definately agree the furniture is some of your best models(although all of your models are great), and some of the best furniture models around. But many, if not most people when shopping online for assets will be looking for a certain asset, say a stove or chair etc. Have you thought about registering a GCS seller account? As it gets traffic from fpsc and darkbasic users alike. You'd most likely get more sales there + I think how the store is arranged is neat.

Now onto the new model, the look very nice, when you sell them I'd reccomend including a .psd/.xcf (whatever image program you use for texturing) file so the customer can modify the screen to their liking.

Also best wishes to your son, I hope he gets through it alright.

10.0$ is indeed a good price, considering I've seen single models on turbosquid going for xxx sums.

I'll try to get it till next week just for the heck of it,paypal in my country can be a pain.
I don't use FPS Creator anymore, but I'd love to help out a fellow member(especially if it's for a good cause).

Unfortunately, I'm one of the 90% that Anayar mentioned that will grab anything for free

However, this is not because I'm tight fisted, it is because I'm on such a tight budget (household bills, household bills, and yet more household bills!!), that I can't afford to buy model packs.

Having said that, your work is most definately worth the price you're asking for (and then some!), and rest assured, if and when I have some spare cash, yours will be amongst the first that I think of when deciding what media to buy

With all due respect @Willow:

The models in this pack ARE well done and I am sure you are good at MORE than furniture....

....but 90% of the WIP games are set in a grunge/derelict/wartorn environment and therefore your beautiful home is maybe of not much use to most developers.

I know that sounds hard but a lot of people download a lot of beautiful free stuff - but NEVER actually use it. And they definitely don't buy it, if they have no fitting project running.

I admit, I am one of those and in other threads I have posted that I would happily spend 10 $ for WW2 airfield scenery & planes or a set of cool SF weapons.

I see that you are allready working on another project but maybe you could do a little "market reasearch" first and check out, what a LOT of people would like to have - and actually use in their ongoing projects.

Or you could even start a thread first like "Willow's new FPSC pack (WIP)" where you ask people what they would really really like to have (and therefore buy) and work in the direction where you get positive feedback.

And if you think you are only good at furniture (I don't think so btw) you still got plenty of options, like:
- a grunge texture version of your "dream home" set so people can create "before/after" scenarios
- Japanese/China inspired furniture (or even paper wall segments?)
- Garden Furniture (I don't think I've seen much of that yet) maybe including terrace/patio segments and stuff like garden sheds and sunshades

I don't want to play the "know it all" , I am just trying to give you some ideas how to create packs that will sell (and be used). You are a talented and dedicated modeller, and I hope you don't get discouraged too much by that first attemt to sell your work.

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

This is true to a point, 90% of the people are kids and expect everything to be handed to them for free. Any artist who has designed knows how much tie and effort out of their "personal" life it takes to design models and packs.

Quote: " you might want to grunge it up a little; bring it into the real world so to speak"

This may be "your style" of design work, but it is not Willow's. Every artist has their own style and techniques, it does not make them wrong. I find that is the one consistent "opinion" on this forum is that people think their way is the right way to design. Try having an open mind, not everything needs to be grunged up or bloodied or zombie-like. I know my house isn't "grunged" up.

Quote: "Try offering a small (maybe 25%) discount for the first week and throw in somethign free for maybe the first 10 buyers... I assure you that it always works"

25% discount? Again, Willow has done alot of work for this pack and giving a discount would be like giving it away for free. This pack is definately worth $10.00 Plus Willow has designed alot of "free" stuff for this community.

Did anyone tell Errant AI to "grunge" up his packs, or give a discount for the first week? No... it seems comments always tend to fly easier and quicker to the lesser known artists "hoping to sway" them.

Willow, BlackFox and I are buying your pack, AND we have a package on the way to you via the mail. Keep your eyes open for it.

All too well

Wow, wow, wow, hold it right there. I NEVER, EVER told Willow how to design or texture her models, I JUST offered a genuine suggestion. I would never tell another artist their work is anything less than amazing just because it doesnt appeal to my style. With all respects, I think I have enough of an open mind Bluefox, there was no need to post that. And another point is that I was talking about the new model that Willow posted... the control base... I dotn have one of those in my house so I wouldnt know would I? Do you?

Quote: "Did anyone tell Errant AI to "grunge" up his packs, or give a discount for the first week? No... it seems comments always tend to fly easier and quicker to the lesser known artists "hoping to sway" them."

Wow, again, I never tried to sway anyone into my way of thinking or in any way that is positive to me. It wouldnt have benefited me any if Willow got a few extra sales, it would have benefited her...

All in all Bluefox, thank you for twisting my comments in this way. Really makes me feel good

Cheers,
Anayar

Everyone has their own opinion as to what makes a pack look good or sell. BlueFox was trying to point out that each artist has their own unique and individual style. What you need to realize is that my wife and Dale's wife work hard in a male-dominated industry and some of the comments that were seen this morning made them a little frustrated or hot "under-the-collar". Yours were selected only because you brought it up- had it been someone else the same response would have been made. It is nothing personal, so try not to steer it in that direction.

Willow, as mentioned, we are purchasing your pack. Payment is on the way, along with a gift for your son. Just don't get discouraged by the comments. Recognize that everyone has their own opinion, and you have your own style. Take the suggestions, weed out what you don't need, process what is good information, and move on.

Never thought or said it was... I was just a bit hurt that my attempt at being helpful was taken in such a wrong way. Anyways, forgive me if I offended you or your wife... Didnt mean to

OT: Blackfox, I wouldnt say it is male-DOMINATED as some of the best modelers, designers and graphic artists I know outside these forums are women

Anayar

You need not apologize to us for anything- you spoke your opinion, and their opinion was offered in kind. I understand your attempts, but the wives look at it in a different light. I can understand the feeling of how free media is grabbed and "appreciated", but as soon as media with a "price tag" is posted, there is little to no response. My point is BlueFox and Willow both don't always look at it in a way that most do. A harmless suggestion to "grunge" it up or do something else that goes against their style is like asking a fish to fly, or a cat to bark. As I have already stated to Willow and BlueFox, posting any of their media here will get varied responses and they have to learn how to filter out the good ideas/advice from the bad. It is a learning curve for everyone.

Where we are, it is a male-dominated industry.

Well, I just wanted to make sure... you never know the type of things people get offended about around here. Anyways, my last point is going to be that whatever a modeler's sex is, he/she is going to have to learn to take crits and suggestions (the cat may need to learn how to bark). The only way to avoid that is not releasing any media... And I dont think they want to do that. If a harmless suggestion is going to make he/she get offended, well its going to be tough to get any further.

This is going to be my last comment on this particular issue. I again want to apologize to both Blackfox & Bluefox if I offended them in any way, and Id also like to commend Willow once again on this pack.

Cheers,
Anayar

WILLOW...

I will buy your pack.

I have no need for it right now, but I can mix up the segments, entities, etc...and I may need it for a later project.

You spent a lot of time creating this, and I like it.

I don't model, but I will happily pay someone like you and others on here to model for me if I need something. I don't have the time to do it.

Plus, I want to help your son in the hospital. I hope he gets well.

Give me a few minutes and I'll give you the Paypal transaction ID to confirm the purchase.

King Cobra: Thank you so much! My son had a bone marrow transplant for the 2nd time, and so far they say he is cancer free, but not in remission yet, that could take a long time, and he will be in the hospital a little longer, we are still praying.

All money from these sales are being used for shipping cost on things I am sending him, after shipping cost is paid, he gets the rest of the money for what ever he wants.

Here is some of my new pack, there will be 2 sets, one of each.

WILLOW:

One thing...can you please send the download to this email: [email protected]

The email I used for paypal is having problems, and I check the email above quite frequently.

Anyway,

The screenie for the new packs look great to me....I personally like it.

Definitely let me know when these become available. I know for a fact I can use these in my project I'm doing.

My project is taking a while because I have a full time job, so I work on it whenever I can.

About your son, keep your head held high and keep praying. He will make it through. I will keep him in my prayers as well.

Anything I can do to help I will...but your packs look very nice and I can see a lot of use for them either now or in future projects!

Thank you Willow!

Your furniture pack is great Willow! As I am in need of money as well, I will not be purchasing BUT, if you need any models done (I heard your son is making a dinosaur game?) just email me at

I hope your son gets better too.

Best of luck,

Awesome style willow. Sci-fi will most likely get purchases as many people have use for it, including myself. If you need help trying to get a concept of what people like try looking up the following.

Dead Space 1 and 2
Mass effect 1 and 2
Maybe some halo stuff
Doom 3
Aliens vs predator (The new one)

Or maybe even reference some stuff off your husband. Also PWP does some awesome grunge sci-fi. So does HoriZon.

Some things some of the scifi things some of us are in the need for, are defiantly what you already started.

Doors (Not to many to select from)
Consoles
Segments
various entites: Chairs, tables, boxes ect
Holo pads, this goes in many different ways. Holo systems are really awesome and can really fill the universe a little, I have some links to some reference material.

Various things like that can get someones attention.

Doors (Also goes with holo stuff)

Stuff like that will no doubt get peoples attention. Though this is just my 2 cents. Your work is always amazing willow, can't wait to see what you make!

good job willow, too bad i dont use fpsc anymore, but maybe ill buy the pack to support you and your son! I understand how you feel because a long time ago i also made a huge pack with a friend of mine, for 15 euro. But we only had like 5 sales. Allot of FPSC users are quite young, and dont have allot of money to spend. Still 10 dollar is worth it

Hi Willow.

I know how it feels, there is a very low level of thanks on these forums. I'd like to buy your pack, mainly to support you, but also because I see a couple of models that I may find useful.

Unfortunately the link in the first post seems to be dead. Do you have a new one?

LOL, Scene Commander Perhaps we've banned you. IIRC, you were suppose to send us some French wine, was that not in our last voice conversation? Heh heh heh

The link works, considering we're the link. If you are having issues with getting on the site, e-mail me via my Hotmail account and we can discuss an alternate method for you only. However, considering you have a little one around, maybe it was a sign.

This seems like a great pack, but unfortunately I don't have any money in my paypal. But I am working on a pack to sell, so you might see a purchase from me soon.

On a side note, BlackFox, if I wanted to sell a pack through your site, would that be possible and what are the conditions?

Looks really good willow, great work on the specular and diffuse map! Although the Ceiling does not really fit at the moment (in my honest opinion) Don't know how it will look if the scene is a bit darker.

Well, right now I'm doing the best that I can. But, by the time I get this pack finished, I'll be doing better work.
