Hi, all.

I’m so close to releasing this program as a “Work In Progress”. I understand the theory behind the manifest and visual styles. But for some reason when I include it, I get this eye sore. None of the software on my computer looks like that.

When I delete the manifest file the program looks more like it should. Am I missing something here?

I have tested this on Windows XP and Windows 7. The program looks as it should on both systems without the manifest file. So is there any adverse effect of not using a manifest? If so how can I get this program looking right? Thank's for your help.

It looks exactly as it should. What is that you think that looks wrong?
Is it the color of the tab control? The tab control's color is always white when you turn on visual styles and that can't be changed. If you want it to look more like when visual styles are turned off you will need to create a child window for every tab in a tab control and then place oll of the controls on that child windows.

Thank's Brendy boy.

Yes it is the color of the tab control and the blue on white frame labels. I see now what I’m missing. Visual styles could probably be made to look really nice. Although I don’t think they would be necessary for such a basic program. If it wouldn’t be an issue could I just not use the manifest file? Or should I turn off visual styles using enableXPStyles?

Visual styles are used to enhance the visual appearance of the controls, nothing more. You don't have to use it if you don't want to.
