Hey everyone, i don't want to really request anything. I don't like doing this, but does anyone know how i might be able to get the Maintenance Gantry's in the Scifi-Platforms and turn them into entities?

Pretty much im trying to make it look like that part of the gantry has fallen off and landed at the bottom, or one hanging on to another gantry segment slanted downward.

If anyone has this, or if this is possible can someone help me? Thanks!

Easy,open your segments folder.

- Find the wanted .fps file for the segment and open it with notepad.
- Find the model field and trace the mesh file
- Then copy the meshes path (provided it's in meshbank and not in the same folder as the .fps file.Use common sense)
- Do the same for the segment's texture
- Go to your entitybank folder and create a new entity file (.fpe) somewhere(You could use one of your existing entity's .fpe file as a template)
- Change the entity's model and texture to the previously copied ones from the segment(Use some blank document to store them)
- Save it as an .fpe file and you should have your "converted" segment to an entity.

Wow, that was easier than i thought. Thanks a lot Gencheff!

EDIT - What if there are two models involved? What i mean is, what if there are two .x files being used in the segment, how do i know which one to copy over? Or should i add both to the new .fpe? If so how would i go about doing this? Sorry for wasting your time, But i will work on it and see what happens! Thanks again!

You mean if you take a room segment consisting of floor and walls?

Well..look at the mesh and texture names.90% of the time the names point out which file you should select.

Oh and the texture you need should be in field : texture0.Here's an example (the needed parts are in bold)

Quote: "
partmode0 = 0
meshname0 = meshbank\common\floor_a.x
offx0 = 0
offy0 = -50
offz0 = 0
rotx0 = 0
roty0 = 0
rotz0 = 0
texture0 = texturebank\Gencheff\RoughTiles_D2.dds
textured0 =
texturen0 =
textures0 =
transparency0 = 0
effect0 = effectbank\ps_3_0\segments\norm_spec_tangentbasis.fx
colmode0 = 1
csgmesh0 =
csgmode0 = 0
csgimmune0 = 1
lightmode0 = 0
multimeshmode0 = 0
materialindex0 = 2"

Yes i mean when the segment has floors and walls. The gantry segments in the Scifi folder have the floor, and then for walls they have the bars. Here is what my final fpe is WITHOUT the bars. I want to know how i could add them. Should i make a new line after "model" and call it "model2"?

Well no,you make separate entities for the bars,same way you did this one,just copy the bar's mesh and texture information.
