They all look pretty boring/flat to me.
Have you got any shaders applied to it?

If not, you should, because you have a fair bit of potential, just going that extra mile gives it a lot of kick.

Wow you made those textures? Like from scratch?
Dang!
Looks nice!

I'm sorry but not to point fingers , but there's absolutely no way you turned out this many textures at this quality in half an hour from scratch in paint.net.

Are you really sure it took you only 30 minutes because I highly doubt that.

You can download tools to use custom brushes in Paint.NET but they suck for the most part. I think he means that he used images and edited them\improved them and made them into segments. Which is fair, images as base textures can be very effective. Thank you for the free segments.

I would probably bet the rest are also from cgtextures

Next time, state that you merely edited images.
Just sayin

That brown brick image the OP supplied definitely is the same as the one from this link (http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id=13213&PHPSESSID=bqshoev4k22varr9b2sk1mg1b1). Even we can see the hot spots and a couple other "similarities", since we spend countless hours working on our own media designs.

It is no wonder many of us grow tired of these antics and don't do any media on this forum anymore.

I don't see this as "antics". Using base textures from CG Textures that are edited can be redistributed. If someone edits and mixes different images together, the texture is still technically made by them. But that's just my personal opinion.

As I had read the post, I too had thought he cranked these out in 30 minutes. Regardless what CG Textures allows/does not allow, it would be prudent to be open and honest and just state "I edited these images..." or something like that. There have been so many different people coming here saying "I made this, I made that" and it's been proven they lied or ripped media from other sources. Here we have someone that has worded the post to say they made these in 30 minutes, when in actuality that is incorrect. It may give a wrong vibe to new people, where they too will try the same thing, and the cycle continues.

I don't care whether you agree or not, it is the principle behind it. We create our own media, we know what we see in his images and "texture work". all one has to do is say "here is my re-texturing work". No one would have said anything beyond that.

I suppose it is all in perspective, but I am not looking for an argument. But for example, if I designed a structure out of Lego blocks, I would tell people I made it, although I did not actually make the blocks myself. I suppose it depends on how heavily changed the images are and at the way you look at it.

With that being said, I apologize if I seemed rude or insulting towards anyone.

Edited and mixed?
Looks more like a few filters and contrast/brightness changes.

There's nothing wrong with editing textures, but when I can EASILY find the EXACT images you use and they look almost identical then you didn't edit them enough.

Excuse me? Ripped? From what?
Since when have I "ripped" textures?

You need to state that in your original post before you release them. Or at the very least in a license which you have failed to include in the download.

you spent two hours on all of these, still using CG textures?
You should work a little more efficiently

For example if two hours is too much of your precious time to be importing, and you AREN'T making shader maps, you may as well be using FIRMA and pumping out this kind of stuff in 20 minutes.

I'm sorry DarkJames, I didn't mean for that to come off as offensive.
Reading it through again, I can see how easily it can have.

They are good textures, you just need to make sure that you credit others their work due, before you release them.

If you're seriously considering leaving TGC, I wish you luck in your further endeavors elsewhere.

Just remember, there is always this place for you back here, providing you do things properly and be extra cautious about it.

Again, sorry if I came off offensive. It is not how I intended.

Why would you remove the download... The license for cgtextures clearly states that you may distribute the textures together with your models...

Do you even need to credit CG Textures when you use their images? I don't think that's in the license, but I could be wrong.

I think by the way it was said it was more of a
'mention you used it as a resource and base, rather than crediting the work as entirely original'

Quote: "your models..."

but technically unless you make the segments pieces yourself aren't most segments just the texture and the fpe or fpi or whatever?

and DarkJames you should get a program like Firma. It makes making segements so much easier.
