Day 1 purchase for me. This is the best product TGC has released since FPSC.

I like the fact 2D is coming back. Even commercial developers understand multi million dollar development projects are not sustainable and seriously limit experimentation.

Aah, finally. A date and price. Thanks, RickV!
Now, just save some money. Hehheheh.

One question though, is it possible to buy the AppGameKit via Bank transfer, just like the other TGC products?

Cheers

A generous offer from TGC. I'm assuming the system already knows who we are? And the price is in USD?

That is perfect for me!

This includes both Tiers? Brilliant.
Well I guess your hard work on this product is going to pay off.
Not only do you have a strong number of community members waiting for a pre-order, you have thousands of developers looking for exactly this!

Max

I've been trying to follow the progress of the AppGameKit (not being in the beta program) but I'm getting increasingly confused over the Tiers.

As I understood it Tier 1 allowed selling apps via GameCreators only and Tier 2 allows building and distributing apps independently.

But the release details above sound like you can only distribute yourself if you code in C++, is this correct?

I've never got my head round C++ and have been looking forward to a DBPro style language for mobile apps that I can then build and distribute to Apple, Android (eventually) and others myself.

Is this the case?

There is no tiers anymore. So when you buy AppGameKit you get both.

C++ allows you to use AppGameKit as library so you can code your own against Xcode.

So basically AppGameKit Basic Script is like Dark Basic only in 2D
and C++ libraries are like the Dark SDK libaries only in 2D, but you get both for a low price.

If you want to distribute your apps only using AppGameKit Basic Script for ios, you will need to sell through TGC. If you want to do it on your own, you use C++, the AppGameKit C++ Libraries and Xcode.

App Game Kit (A.G.K.) - Want to be creative on many platforms at once? This is the tool you need.

I wouldn't say that...exactly, there are still two types of AppGameKit and one is more limited than the other when it comes to publishing but it is awesome that they come bundled.

Happy Birthday in advance!!!

I think we should have an AppGameKit community competition, it's been ages since the last community comp and this time we have a new toy.

Totally agree! There's nothing quite like a competition to get one motivated!

@Hodgey:

Please clarify "one is more limited than the other when it comes to publishing".

@DrT
I've heard that the BASIC version of AppGameKit may have trouble with publishing, mainly with Apple's App store because the guidelines are so strict but last I heard TGC are offering a publishing route. I can't confirm this but it has been circling around. I think it is because that BASIC AppGameKit needs a player where C++ AppGameKit just makes it's way into the relevant sdk?

Sorry if that doesn't really clarify anything...

Edit- My apologies if this is going off topic but Rick could you add the App Game Kit board to the TGC toolbar. I went to the toolbar thread but it has been automatically locked.

I hope that there isn't problem to publish on IOS store because
I'm interested to develop only IOS apps.
And anyone knows how is possible to download the player on IOS device without jailbreak ?

Please can Rick or Lee answer my question ?
thank you

I think that you can publish to the appstore via TGC, but both TGC and apple will take some profit

Publishing via TGC will mean you get about half the sale price of your app. The app store will take 30%, TGC will then take another 30%, the rest will be yours. I think this is fair enough as all the hassle of having your game certified, which is starting to become the norm now will be none of your concern. Considering this alone can cost anything from roughly $100 a year, I would say it balances out. I wouldn't fancy releasing a game to sell just a few copies and end up losing money because I had to spend more on the certification fee.
If you use the C++ libraries you can publish yourself if you prefer. This is what I gather from what I have read over the last few months anyway. I'm sure someone from TGC will clarify this at some point soon.
