First of all to the mods, this is a little experiement - if you wish for me to stop then let me know and i'll edit the post.
But please don't post anything that would taint the objective...
if you wish for an explaination behind it then again i'm willing to do so - outside of the topic.

... now everyone please look at the picture, don't post what you see because that'll ruin this ...

a) if you are under 15 then click the code below

b) if you are 15 or over then click the code below

we should get some interesting results
please DO NOT post anything other than is instructed in the code for your age group - else it will spoil the entire point

Thank you - Raven

Yeah, spotted them instantly

Is it really that hard to see? Load of people are saying they only saw then after 5 mins or so

Oki just to put everyones minds at ease...
there are 14, and if you couldn't see them within 3seconds of seeing it after knowing they were there then according to the study done then you haven't matured yet.
and if you couldn't see them within 25seconds it is believed that there are deep psycological issues that need resolving lol

this particularly interested me simply because younger children cannot see what the adults do at first, infact if your under 11years old only 3/100 kids tested saw what they weren't suppose to
i love these eye trick things though, helps you be more creative

I doubt those test numbers are accurate-- I'm sure that I haven't matured yet, but the whole forum?

The fact is you can't define someone's 'maturity' with a test aimed at the whole human race. I can't even begin to imagine all of the factors in what you would see.

You know what the first thing I saw was when I concentrated on the dark spots? A whirlpool. The dolphins are a lot vaguer.

(By the way, I still only see 11 dolphins)

Well my opinion is that the test requires that the hue/brightness level of the couple has to be an absolute match for the hue/brightness level of the dolphins for the test to be fair. But I see that the hue/brightness level of the couple is somewhat brighter than the dolphins. What I am trying to say is that Black/White is fair because the levels are equally opposite. Also the couple is flat shaded, and the dolphins are reflective.

I think it would also be dependant on your monitor size, res and how far you sit from it as well as contrast/brightness settings.

I dont think its anything to do with age or maturity, but purely life experience. Look at the shape of the two people, then think about how many times you have seen a similar image. Also think of your experience of abstract art and impressionism etc, be it in an art gallery, in website art, in a book, or on TV.

I think a 10 year old, with the sexual maturity of frog spawn would see two people if they'd (A) Not been overly exposed to dolphin imagary and (B) experienced enough images of people in similar embraces.

Quote: "
The maturity comes from being able to seperate the swimming animals very easily from the sexual refference. Dolphins are seen to be one of the kindest animals there are, this is why they were used. It is so that you can associate easily your a kinder and more innocent nature.

This is why unmature individuals cannot see them very quickly, it has nothing to do with the exposure to images; unless you have never seen a dolphin before or a similar sexual imagery then the test stands valid for exactly what it is trying to accomplish. As we have come to believe that most decent pre-teenagers have never had exposure to such images it was safe to assume that they would not see the sexual imagry within, and the tests have actually help to echo such believed facts.

Those who try to rationalize the test are simply trying to transpose thier lack of maturity to the fact that the test un biased towards a certain spectrum of people, when in actual fact this heads to simply add to the necessary responses that we have come to expect.

Tch tch. I disagree with their viewpoint on society right there. Frankly, although I hadn't 'had exposure' to such imagry as a preteen (11 at least), I'm certain I would have recognized the human figures for exactly what they were.

'Those who try to rationalize the test are simply trying to transpose thier lack of maturity to the fact that the test un biased towards a certain spectrum of people, when in actual fact this heads to simply add to the necessary responses that we have come to expect.'

Well, damn, they really think they're gods, don't they? 'Disagree with us and you're proving your immaturity. Agree and you are mature'. Sheer idiocy IMO .
