We all know Gimp and Inkscape, but is there another freebie you use for your creative projects?

What's your favourite HTML editor? A seamless texture generator perhaps? What about software to plan and organise your ideas ?

I use Notepad for everything. It's got a great GUI for photo editing.

Also the UDK, Paint.net, and Blender. And Open office, for my fic writing hobby.

Notepad++ is great. Has syntax highlighting for 20+ languages(HTML, JS, CSS, C/C++, Lua, Obj-C, Lisp, PHP, etc).

Context is also good. I mainly used that for UDK's scripting though.

Yeah, I'd pretty much agree with everyting mentioned so far, especially;

Audacity, for editing the sounds/music I've used in my game.
Paint.net, for converting images to DDs format.
Gimp, for all other texture/image creation.
VLC Media, for music and movie file playback.
7Zip, for archiving files.
Blender, finally found a decent tutorial to learn it, once I've mastered Milkshape!

And not forgetting the main ones I use all the time;
Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird, for web browsing and emails.
Ubuntu Linux, no explanation necessary!!!

Windows!

Notepad++
Netbeans
Comodo & Avira
Audacity
Chrome
Thunderbird

VLC, but every update seems buggier than before and I'm starting to like WMP in Win7 more than VLC.

I'm sure I have a ton of other random tools that I just can't recall.

my choice would be:
- Wings 3D
- Character FX (since they ran out of business and gave it away for free)
- PSP Video 9
- 7 Zip ( Hands down for best zip program and free too)

Notepad++ is the only real one that comes to mind.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

I haven't used a lot of content creation tools in a while, but working in IT I find the following tools invaluable:

Notepad++ - Awesome notepad like program with syntax highlighting.
IETester - Check if your website works in IE all the way back to 5.5(It seldom does )
UltraVNC - Remote desktop viewer/server alternative to RDP
CCLeaner - Registry/General purpose cleaner
PuTTY - SSH/Telnet Client
Microsoft Security Essentials - AntiVirus...not the best...but it gets the job done.
Spiceworks - Network Analyzer, Inventory System, Ticketing system...It does everything
VirtualBox - Virtualization Software
CentOS - Makes a great development or production server
Apache2 - Most popular Web Server out there
HijackThis - Great Program to help track down malware
CloneZilla - Open source alternative to Norton Ghost.
