Hi all.

There are just a few questions I have regarding the implementation of some ideas I have for a game of mine that I am working on.
Firstly, is there any way to move freely between levels, for example, I have a manor house with various outside gates which lead to other outlying areas (separate levels). If I want to return to the manor house from one of these points, would it be possible?

Also, on the same track of thought, can a level link to more than one destination, like say for instance I have the central manor area, with doors leading to both the East and West wing of the house? I know that RPG-Mod had this functionality, however, since it is no longer available, I was wondering if there is some way to make this work short of me having to create my own mod for it. And if not, are there any other FPSC mods available with this functionality?

Thank you in advance.

maho76, thank you for the reply, but that post sadly does not cover my dilemma of the multiple-level transitions. I have not been able to find either 'gotolevel' or 'movetolevel' commands in the documentation, and have not been able to find them on forum search either. Perhaps I am just missing something. Also, due to the scale of the levels, the prefab mode won't work for what I have planned.

My other question following this is if you can move between levels in this way, would the levels be persistent ie. if I picked up a specific item in one level and return to that level at a later stage, will the item remember that I picked it up, and not respawn itself? The same goes for characters, triggers, etc.

Thank you for the swift reply, and I am sorry if I have somehow violated any forum etiquette.

He said at the end of his post he knew that RPG was capable of doing what he was looking for, but the mod is no longer available.

@Vandaarc, Project Blue Mod allows you to jump back and forth between levels. I don't know if V1.18 (vanilla FPSC without a mod) has level jumping or not as I haven't been following the migration thread. So you would have to wait for someone else to verify that one. But Project Blue is a worthy investment just the same.

Thank you very much, Kravenwolf. I will definitely take a look at Project Blue, as it seems pretty promising, and has several features i would be inclined to use.

You can move between levels using v118 using the "nextlevel=X" script command. There are also two conditions you can use to check which level you are in "levelequal=X" and "levelnotequal=X".

RPGmod is still available, see: FPSC forum link

PB is also very good for level-to-level navigation.

Thanks for that Ched80. In this usage, is X a number?

Brian.

Yup. For example you can use the following line in a script:

:levelnotequal=4:nextlevel=4

This will set level 4 as the next level to be played, as long as the current level being played is not level 4.

The next level is triggered when the win zone is triggered.
