Please have at least 2gb or more if you have Windows Vista or Windows 7. 1gb might do with XP but you won't
be making huge detailed levels either. I have 8gb in my system but in full honesty, I personally recommend 4gb of ram.

Another thing, laptops aren't the best at graphics due to most of them have low budget integrated cards in them.
If you can get a laptop with an ATI 4250 or better, you might be able to pull off some good maps. Intel graphics I
wouldn't even mess with unless its their latest HD line; otherwise, no.

So, lets see:

-4gb-3gb of Ram

-At least an ATI 4250

-Any dual-core processor should do.

I personally say the ram the way I do because I'm building a demanding map right now and I've almost hit
2gb of memory being used during a test build. That isn't including the ram already being used by my PC to run
the operating system and so on and so forth. The more ram, the better dude!

This... although if you get DDR2, it won't be the end of the world.

Here are my laptop specs:

Here are my desktop specs:

I can get maybe, 10 framerate on a small map on my laptop. I can get 60 framerate on a very detailed map on my desktop computer. So if your going to be getting a new computer, get a DESKTOP. Laptops suck for FPSC unless you buy a really expensive one. Mine sadly was pretty cheap.. But it's fine for most things..

I might be getting new parts for my desktop computer because i got it a little over a year ago, and i didn't really research what good parts where at the time or if i should have waited for better parts. But that's not relevant...

Hope this helps!

Get 4GB of RAM (If you're tight with cash go for 2gb)
ATLEAST a 1GB card.
And dual-core CPU

My plan for today: 1. Wake up. 2. Live 3. Go to sleep.
