well when i export the model itself-- even when i added the textures- it only exports the .x file. not the textures.

Im asking if theres a way to export the model with the textures

or if the milkshape software has a texture mapping tool.

lol, dude, sorry, but Milkshape only exports the model file Its up to you to create the UV Map in an external program, and those programs will give you an option to save Texture Map.

Also, Milkshape comes with a Texture Coordinate editor tool that you can use for simple models. I dont know how or why people use it, but here is a really great tutorial that explains it. Infact this tutorial explains modelling, mapping and texturing in an extremely understandable, well presented way I just wish that I found this when I started lol...

Just skip ahead to the Mappign part

[EDIT]If you dont want to dig, here is a link to the page where he explains the texture editor:

You mean external mapping programs... well I can name a few off the top of my head...

1. UV Mapper Classic (FREE): http://www.uvmapper.com/
2. UV Mapper Pro: http://www.uvmapper.com/
3. Lithunwrap: Attached with this post. (You can also get it here: http://www.geeks3d.com/20090303/lithunwrap-free-uv-mapper-for-windows/
4. Ultimate Unwrap 3D: http://www.unwrap3d.com/u3d/index.aspx
5. MapMagic (Little known... Personally woudl recommend a diff. one): http://www.royriggs.com/mapmagic.html
7. UVLayout: http://www.uvlayout.com/
8. Roadkill (FREE): http://www.pullin-shapes.co.uk/page8.htm

Also, Blender has one built in, and so do most other modelling programs.

Anayar
