how do i make it so i have one camera which displays the whole field but another that show the first person view as a HUD at the same time

As luck would have it, I'm just about to post a routine for creating multiple cameras in the Code Snippets section. Its not quite what you want, but it should give you a few ideas.

Alternatively, I have exactly what you want - you just need to extract it from the attached code.

It's the camera that's attached to the image which is attached to a faded sprite that you need.

is there any where between 128 and 256 that i can grab the image with out it pissing off db

after using ianM's code i put it in all good but the hud looks like the graphic from a demo or quake game not like dbpro is there any why to make it chrisper

What do you mean by crisper?

If you want non-powers of 2 in your camera sizes, I'm afraid you can't do it directly - I think it's a DX limitation.

You could render to an image, paste that image onto a bitmap, and then copy the amount of that you want to the main display.
