Blender definitely doesn't suck, it's been used to make movies and so on. Milkshape 3D is a great, simple program that I use. It's very easy to use.

Blender does not suck, it is like every other 3d modeling program, exept it's free and probably has more features then most. If you think it sucks then maybe you're not cut out for 3d modeling.

But yeah milkshape ticks all the boxes for fps creator.

I think the problem with Blender is it is quite complicated relative to other programs which will make it off-putting to beginners.

Blender is a really good modeling program, especially in recent version,
where the interface is much more clear than in older versions.
If you think that Blender is too difficult for you, You should try a different software.
Maybe at the beginning, check the Wings3D. It is easier to use than Blender.
For me it's the best 3D modeling program. Unfortunately it has one defect, namely,
Wings3D do not support an animation. To the animation, you must to learn the Fragmotion (easy to use)
or Milkshape3D (I never used it and I don't know if it's easy to use).

I use ac3d which is probably the easiest out of the group. But It does not support animations and does not have a proper beveling and splitting system, which are crucial in modeling weapons and characters.

Terrific things can be done with blender, but it has a completely different interface than any other 3D program ever made. So if you ever worked with something else, I can see where people can find it hard to learn. I started using Inventor and 3D max for work back when max was made by Discreet (v2.5). When I first saw blender I was blown away by the fact it was free. But After learning autodesk products and interface, I could not even figure out the mouse buttons in blender. But, look at what Kravenwolf does and he uses Blender. His stuff is AAA top notch. So he is proof positive that the program itself doesn't matter, it's what you do with it.

It's more important to find something that suits your design, workflow, pipeline, and most importantly budget, than what others may think of it. Try downloading a few free trials and modeling the same model in all of them. Which one feels more natural to you and gives you the results YOU want.

There are plugins available for x file import and export in blender. Also, you are kind of stuck with having to learn how to use uv maps, since it is the only effective way to texture models. I hope you get hold of a program that suits you. Best of luck!

Hi, download the 3d Rad plugin here: http://www.3drad.com/Google-SketchUp-To-DirectX-XNA-Exporter-Plug-in.htm. And download the segment and entity maker here: http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2001&page=Files

After, export your models for .x files. Open entity or segment maker and make your segments or entities.

** In the file of the programs are video tutorials, sorry for my english.

Blender is capable of doing more than most other affordable modeling packages out there. And I have yet to find a reason to make a transition from Blender to 3D Studio Max.

Why not?

Quite a few FPS Creator users work with Blender. And probably even more with 3D Studio Max. Don't undersell yourself. The more your program can do, the more efficient you can complete your task and with less of a burden on yourself. And there's certainly nothing wrong with that.

I see that Wings 3D can do more even sketchup 8 can do more than blender

the .x plugin only works for exporting only no importing and this really sucks but now i use .obj for works

i go around from blender to wings 3D and vice verse but this is in hard modelling only easy ones goes to wings 3D only i know this is not good for a good modeller because he should only use one program but i think this goes easier with me

easy things like house , furniture , buildings , animated things ( still in progress for that tutorials ) etc..

hard things like characters ( still in progress for that tutorials ) , guns ( still in progress too )

I think they go with milkshape 3D which i see very hard to learn idk why :\

I don't do that :\

dude go over 3D warehouse for sketchup and see the models they are awesome and then go to blendswap and see the blender model mate the problem in sketchup is that it doesnt have animation but it's ok

and i have gone deep in it anyway it's good but not that good

Edit - It's Interface Does really suck isn't it ? ( Blender )

No, they can't.. You may want to also note that you can configue the interface to your liking.

Quote: "I think they go with milkshape 3D "

Quite a few modelers on these boards work with Blender and 3DS Max over Milkshape. There's certainly nothing wrong with Milkshape, as everyone does have their own preference when it comes to everything, but that doesn't change a feature list.

Now you're confusing the capabilities of the artist with the capabilities of the program. You can try looking here or here if you were interested in seeing a larger gallery of Blender works; though I assume your mind is already set at where it's at. Game Artisians is also a great source to find out what more seasoned artists can acheive with their software.

But a few posts up you said the exact opposite

Anyway, you can find tutorial on the Blender website, and hundreds more on Youtube.

EDIT: Sorry, I don't have the time to tutor anyone on Blender. I can only pop in every now and then and encourage them to give it a shot. You should be fine as long as you stick with the basic tutorials and then branch out into the more advanced things once you pick up on the basics. I'd start with the interface, and then learn the primary hotkeys (G=grab S=scale E=extrude R=rotate and so on).
