Hi everyone. I just wanted to drop by and give you all a sneak peek at my latest project. I'm pitching in to help "Willow" raise a little money for her son, whom as you probably know, is in the hospital with Cancer.

This is going to be one of my full blown, Mega model packs with a ton of all new segments, and entities, all using Bond's tangent basis, and animated shaders. And to make it all the more appealing is that I plan to sell it, for what I believe to be a very reasonable price of $15.00. Not to mention, it's for a good cause.

The Pack should be ready in a few weeks, and will be available from Northern Fox Media's website store.

Well enough chatter, here's a few screenshots of just a small part of what will be included in the new pack.

Hope you like it. Thanks!

Wow, that looks really good, if I didn't know what a normal map was they'd be the highest detail things I've ever seen in fpsc (that means the normal maps are great)

DarkJames: No, He's her son from her first marriage. His Father died of lung Cancer back in 2009.

This week he begins his fourth round of Chemotherapy. They are trying to get him into remission, so they can do the bone marrow transplant he needs.

But just because he's not a blood relation to me, in my book, is no reason not to do what I can for her (or anyone's) sick child.

Thanks for your kind words!

Bootlicker: The money collected is going to be sent to him, Cosmic and my self aren't getting any of it. He will be using the money for whatever he wants or needs.

The last time he was in the hospital, (only got out of hospital a week and half ago)he was in there a little over 3 months and wasn't able to get anything for himself.

He went down to Nashville, Tn to another hospital for lab work and then a bone marrow transplant. They sent him back home because he couldn't have it done because the cancer was back. He has to go back into the hospital today so that he can get a 4th set of Chemo.

Just like CP said, if you buy this pack or make a donation, please send you name to CP's email. We are going to get him a huge card and put everyone's name on it that helped.

I also, want to say Thank You everyone. You are all going to make a very sick 19 year old very happy.

Ben: I understand how a lot of folks would be skeptical about making a donation to a cause when, and if they are not directly involved in a given situation. I'm the same way.

But note: I'm not asking for anything from any one. I've simply stated that the proceeds from this pack I'm making, will be used for the porpoise stated. Otherwise, I'd more than likely be giving it away for free as always.

Instead, I've decided to sell it, and donate the profits myself for what I feel is a worthwhile cause. If there are those who wish to donate anything without buying the pack, I'd be thrilled to add those selfless donations to the cause along with mine. (I never expected that) And that's just as cool as it gets.

I'm sending the proceeds to him, so he can have some money to get stuff to amuse himself with, while he's stuck in the hospital for the next few months. We bought him one of those portable DVD players so he can watch movies, and listen to the music he likes. They have a commissary, or gift shop, or whatever you want to call it, there at the Children's Hospital where he can buy books, games, and whatever. What he buys with the money is not my concern.

The only reason I mentioned it at all, is to explain why I intend to sell this pack instead of giving it away as I usually do.

we would like to send a card with the names of everyone who buys the pack but if folks don't wish it, that's fine too.

I hope this answered your question buddy.

So, The pack will be for sale in a few weeks, and anyone interested in it, can follow it's progress by dropping by this thread now and again.

Thanks. CP.

Hmmm! I guess so, That would probably be the easiest way, unless you wanted to send a check, or money order or something to him directly to the Hospital. I'll have to look into that I guess.

Thanks!!!

Cosmic Prophet,

I have never seen your work, except on the Starship Troopers thread, as I am new on the forums. Based on messages by you that I've read and positive references of you by other members, I got the sense that you are some sort of a respected member on the forums. Now, I know why.

Those segments are I think the most amazing segments I have EVER seen! Will we be able to use them in commercial games?

Great job!

No. These are hand made by creating greyscale bump maps in photoshop, then running them through shader Map pro to create the normals. An example of this greyscale technique is attached.

And here is a screenshot of the greyscale map in SMP showing the end result. The use of beveling, and gradiant filters give you the smooth raised areas for the hatches, etc. With a little practice you can create practicly any raised form you want. SMP can generate the normal, specular, and ambient occultation maps, that can then be later refined within photoshop to render the final maps needed for the shader you are using. You can also use layering to "Build Up" your forms by importing multiple maps, and combining them to obtain the desired results.

The best thing about it is the price. just 20 bucks!

Shader Map Pro can be obtained here:

@Cosmic Prophet

Donating sales from this pack to a good cause is a noble deed and will make me spending the money all too easier.

But seriously - your work is as high quality as it can get (beating some commercial FPSC MPs for sure) - so imho you don't need a good cause to sell your work instead of giving it away.

You have contributed so much free media to us FPSC users that whole games can be made just using CP's packs and I think you've really done enough.

Your work was top from the start and still you improve which each pack so PLEASE don't hestitate to sell your great work from now on.

Looks great, If I was making these Id also render out a 2nd diffuse map for those not using shaders, and bake everything into it (ie all the shaders effects into a diffuse map) I had a tutorial on a great piece of software that does that, Ill try and find it if you are unsure of what I mean.
Ill keep popping in here to make sure I don't miss the sale of this product.

Thanks man. Already done. Here's a shot of what a few of the segments look like with shaders off.

By using a snapshot from the rendered model in SMP, I overlay this on the D2 which adds the lighting and shadows from the rendered normal map. The lighting can be adjusted as you see fit. And with this on a layer, set as an overlay, in Photoshop, it makes it really easy to add my color, and detail while making my diffuse maps.

Hey I actually do the same thing for my textures! But I use xnormal for the normal, cavity, and ambient occlusion maps. I also texture with gimp now, starting from absolute scratch. Here is one of mine that I made a week ago (I have tons of these types of textures)
