I'm using the bitmap font kit, and I think it's a great tool. But why are you limited to only 8 character set sizes (0-7)? I understand that you can change bitmaps with each size - reusing different mappings - but wouldn't it be easier just make it a 1:1 relationship?

Hi,

About the 1:1 mapping thing is just freedom of choice I guess. I chose to separate the image (so you can use eg. different colored versions without changing the mapping - which saves memory), the number of tiles (for some reason it just sounded practical), and the character maps. The reason you can only use 8 different character maps is basically because it is much easier to program that way. I have a new version that removes this limit, but it is coming together pretty slowly, and it also allows padding + cropping (so that you can also use glowing characters and make them overlap partially).

Cheers!

Thank you very much!
I understand the logic behind it - why store multiple copies of data when all you're doing is switching colors - but yeah..., I have four different-sized fonts so far, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the other four spots remaining =D

Thank you for your hard work too, by the way!
