I'm hoping that someone knows a simple solution:

I have a basic cube that I created in Cinema 4D that has a material with a diffuse (colour) map and a normal map on it. I exported to Ultimate UnWrap3D and exported it as a DBO file, loading this into DBPro crashed my basic app (just rotates an object for testing), so I exported it as .X with multi uvsets enabled. This showed in DBPro but is only showing a diffuse map.

Is there any way to get the normal map to load properly in DBPro? Is there a specific way to set this up in Cinema 4D. Should it be two UV/Texture tags, rather than just assigning one material with both diffuse and normal map applied?

Thanks for any help.

This is the wrong place to put this but to answer your question, yes, you can either use a Shader (Harder but more effective) or the built in command which is i believe
(easier but less effective.)
This is not done within the model editor, it must be done in DBP.

and as for your .DBO problem, i have no idea.

I've moved this thread to the DBPro forum, so you can get a quicker response.

Although I'm not saying that travis' response wasn't good enough!

Bump mapped objects usually use only one set of UV coordinates since the diffuse texture and normal map usually align with each other (but not always admittedly).

If you do a search for things like "normal" or "bump" or "mapping" you should find several relevant threads. There are probably also examples buried in the "Learning to write shaders" sticky but that might not be the best place to look first - although it is a good place to post questions about shaders which is what you probably need as travis gatlin suggests.

There's also a planet clouds thread that Green Gandalf and I were in where he was helping me with cloud layers on planets. The shader that was used in that thread does an excellent job with Normal and Diffuse maps.

It can be done with the blend mapping commands as well. Search for "blend mapping" and you'll see some research I did on the subject for applying diffuse, normal, and specular maps to planets.
