When 1.18 finally allowed simplezoom, I tinkered the gunspecs for an old Fantasy project of mine but soon forgot about them again.
But now Vandaarc announced to create new weapons rigged to bond1's hands and I dug everything up (and improved it a bit)
The gunspecs include the following:
- recoil for regular shooting whereas the crossbow has a much harder recoil than the bows.
- slower movement and turning while in simplezoom
- in simplezoom the tip of the arrow/bolt is exactly on target.
- in addition the Elven Bow lost its original zoom hud
Of course simplezooming only makes sense if you get rid of the crosshair (the download includes an "invisible" crosshair)
It is recommended NOT to overwrite the original gunspec.txt but to keep it renamed to gunspecORIGINAL.text or similar.

Turning bond1's Demon Scepter into an engergy-ball firing staff was a bit more work (also inspired by Vandaarcs posts), I had to change the animation frames to get rid of the energy beam and create a matching flak "bullet" which is included in the download
