So i was working on a map, and i go to add an entity and..

FPSC: Guess what? Im going to close now and lose everything you just made because you were to lazy or stupid to save this and i don't have a way to save it. Goodbye!

Me: "Mod Edit" Please dont use such Terms at these boards, its against the rules. A warning point has been set against your profile to add to those already existing. Further reputition will bring more severe action.

FPSC: Here is a second pop-up (after you have waited 5 minutes with a black screen) to remind you again that im closing and you can do nothing about it!

Me: I SHALL NEVER USE YOU AGAIN!

5 minutes later i start it back up, and start again. The moral of the story is please, TGC if you are reading this, MAKE A BACKUP SYSTEM! Please! I know this was my fault because i forgot to save. But once i get going on a good idea i don't remember to do that stuff...

Also, if there is a way to add a backup system to FPSC, please tell me? Pretty please?

Thanks for reading!

Taking some time to research the internet will reveal there are tonnes of backup software out there. We use one program that syncs our folder to a backup drive- works great too. Other software does backup sets that you create and can even schedule. If we have an issue, we have a backup all the time.

There is a trick when working in your level(s). Start a level and save as levelname_base_date_time. Then do some work on it, save as levelname_date_time, and test. If it works, continue on. Save each level work with the date and time in the file name. This way, you can revert back to the last one that was saved and had no issues.

If your software is crashing while you place an entity, then examine your system to see where the issue might be. There could be an issue with the entity, corrupt file(s), or something outside of FPSC that is running.

I've started to do something like this, but thanks for the info!

My computer works fine with everything else, just there are some entities and segments that make my FPSC crash. Im pretty sure it's because im missing a texture or something. I will look into it!

Thanks again for your help!

EDIT - Also, does anyone know what this is? I have not figured it out yet? I've attached the picture..

This is why I literally save every 3-5 minutes.

But wait, doesn't that just backup map you HAVE saved? Im talking about a map you haven't saved. You know a system where it will ask you when you start it up again:

FPSC: It appears i have crashed, but i didn't lose your map because i made a backup of that map. Would you like to restore it?

That's what im trying to say, i think the program you posted Kraven is just for backing up maps you have already saved. It does look like a very useful program though! When i get the time i will surely get it!

Thanks for the link! (and comment )

Not really anything you can do about that short of getting yourself into the habit of saving every time you make a few minor changes to your map. Consider mentioning to a mod developer (or even straight to Lee) an autosave option for the editor similar to the way Gmail/Yahoo saves a draft of your mail every 30 seconds or so.

The mod developer would be limited to help, since that developer only mods the source code. The editor itself is a different interface, since we had asked about adding a button or two to it. In order to implement an autosave feature, only Lee would know for sure if it is viable. We know from the backup software we created that there are many variables involved, including file access rights, etc, for implementing an autosave feature.

No support for lazy or stupid people, please!

I know right? XD

EDIT - I know this isn't relevant, but does anyone know where i might find the sounds for impact? You know the sounds when you drop a crate or something and it makes a sound on impact? I can't find it in the audiobank?.. Thanks!
