Ok

I was looking for a software to make my own 3D videogames. There are some cool tools out there but I don't meet the system specs or some of them are broken so I came up with DarkBasic.

I do not have any problem with code based programming =)

I downloaded darkbasic pro free edition. Now I'm in front of this white screen and I say:

what is this? ¬¬

How do I create my first room?
how do I create some primitives, spheres, cubes, etc...?
how do I put textures on?
how do I create doors, corridors, windows, buildings, cars?
where is the graphical creative feeling in this white screen?
Are you telling me that I have to make art by writing codes?

I need my canvas, I need my pincels, I need my paints you understand?

I watched the website and I saw many many tools for 3D modeling, If i'm not wrong these tools are made for that porpuse, to make 3D enviroments.

So what is DarkBasic?

Do I have to pay to download these tools to make my 3D enviroments and somehow link them to Darkbasic to make them playable.

I don't get it, please help =(

DBPro is a programming language. If you are looking for a drag and drop editor this is not what you have downloaded. Take a look at some simple tutorials here:

You need to fill the white screen with words words have power!

You can build levels out of primitives using object commands but you might want to worry about that later once you get your head around the concept of programming.

The examples that come with DBPro should give you a good idea about the power of it and help you understand how to use it too.

As for the rest, there's tons of free tools for 3d modelling, sound effects, painting, etc.

DBPro is where you put it all together...

If you want a draggy droppy level creator, download the FPS creator. It does what you want, and was written in DBPro too!

And just to show a little example of what you can do with DBPro, copy and paste the code from here into that white window of yours and press F5. Then start reading the code, change some values, and try to understand how it works.

Here's a small example of what can be done for free too:

DarkBASIC is a programming language, it's where you create the logic for your game. All your media (levels, characters etc) should be created in a 3D modelling program - there are a few good free ones like Wings3D or Blender. Alternatively you could download 3D models from the internet from sites like turbosquid.com.

There is also the gamestore built in so you can download models from there for your games and of course the model packs on the TGC website.
