Hi

I'm using Win7 over here, and I recently tried to run an exe I'd compiled on this computer about 6 months ago. It failed, and Windows popped a helpful box up stating that "The parameter is incorrect."

Recompiling the source code fixed the problem.

I've heard other concerns on this board about DBP exes running reliably. I'm worried that when I release my masterpiece (!) it will work for a time, and then something will cause it to mess up.

Obviously I cannot keep recompiling my source code then distributing it every time MS updates something. What would the end users think?

Has anyone else experienced this or found a workaround?

I wasn't aware that exe's had an issue with this. I only thought it was an issue with compiling. I'll have to see if I can find an old project see if it runs ok still.
Not good when updates break your game. A new OS I can understand, but not updates for an existing one.

Updates are the only thing that I've changed recently... no major changes to my system since I compiled the first exe.

I've found a couple of other older DBP exes that exhibit the same problem too.

As DVader says, it'd be interesting to see if anyone else could find an old project to see if its DPB exe runs straight off the bat. If this is a common thing, it needs sorting out.

Yupp, tried a project that worked fine just a month or two ago. Same error, recompiling the code fixed it as well. More than annoying if you happen to lose your original code. I wonder if the older versions of FPS creator have the same bug, as it is coded in DB also?

Yes, I ran in to the same problem with an old version of FPSC as well as some DBP programs. I believe it was mentioned in the update thread that it is infact due to an MS update, although I don't know the specifics.

While I have no idea if it is related, for a little while I was getting the same error message popping up in Visual Studio when deploying a Windows Phone 7 app to the emulator...

Thanks for that, Airslide. I'm hoping that the update mentioned has fixed the problem.

In DBP exes, something low-level must have been happening behind the scenes that was not os-friendly - a 'kludge', if you will.

I'm hoping further that someone can confirm that whatever caused this problem has been properly fixed, and that Win updates won't cause DPB exes to fail in the future.
