Am interested in what the TGC communality thinks about both x9 and x10 FPS Creator. I\'ve been using both for years now and starting to think although x9 is still to date the most popular, why have the mob not moved on to x10, is it the majority of FPS creator users still on XP? Im on win7 64 and have not looked back, my GPU is a GTX 280 and only supports x10 graphics so will there be a x11 fpsc?

Do a search, there's plenty of threads about this already. And 99% of them have been locked due to getting out of control.

EDIT: And to answer your questions, there will not be an X11 version of FPSC, and people haven't moved on to X10 because it is no longer officially supported with upgrades.

is that when TGC get over themselves with AppGameKit?

would that be due to user posting about doing a search and threads being locked?

No, it's because the thread ended up degenerating into an X9 vs. X10 debate.

I thought AppGameKit was quite a good idea

I personally only use X9. I have used X10 in the past and i did not like it. The mouse sensitivity was all messed up (yes i know you can change it) and i could not build very big levels without lag..

So that's my opinion, i believe X9 can do everything that X10 can do. So im sticking with X9, but it's your choice. And if they do make an X11 it will be pretty awesome! Except you will have to have a really good computer.. :/

Hello X Games,

FPSC X9 vs. FPSC X10's : Wow, what a hard competition we have here!

I think FPSC X9 is a coal ore that has become a nice diamond which it is not very polished still but a diamond though and FPSC X10 is a diamond that may become a coal ore faster by the lack of improvements.

Sadly the same fate may be reserved for FPSC X9 as well, if not happen deeper updates in the product in the next years to come.

Remember that the time goes by and quickly...

All the best.

"he did a search"
With most "top title games" they aim for cutting edge technology and you don't need me to tell you, unless you upgrade or build you own PC, game console is the way to go, i personally hate the likes of xbox/playstaion due to the limitations, im talking about FPS (frames per second) and more. I just don't understand why FPSC PC X9 user are not moving on!

x10 has GPU instancing and its performance is unquestionably better. It's not even debatable though I've no doubt someone will debate this with me. Outside of the x10 subforum, it's mostly x9 users and I completely understand folks being defensive of an engine they love.

While TGC may not support x10, we, the users, are supporting it. Mystic Mod had 3 updates in about a week with users requesting new commands and getting them in a matter of days or sometimes hours. I realize it won't always be like that but we are continuing forward with x10 regardless of where TGC stands.

Try this...pick something like the sci-fi pack or whatever segments and entities that you want which work in both engines, set the textures and lightmapping to as high quality as they will go. Run both engines and tell me which one looks better.

I do, in fact, use both x9 and x10 but for the current batch of mini-games I am making for my lab, the graphic quality and performance in x9 were deemed unusable. Not even by me but by others in my lab. I wanted to use x9 for a couple of the games but was told I could not due to the disparity in quality.

That's my experience. But...the Metro Theatre pack is AWESOME (like all of Bond1's work) and only x9.

I completely concede that x9 has more user support, custom shader abilities, countless mods, a built in particle effects system (we have a way to do this in x10 too btw but lack the editor interface). However, a lot of the really cool features in x9 get bogged down by performance issues.

At the end of the day, everyone picks an engine and then needs to learn to work within its limitations and capabilities. An engine is just the canvas (well...and maybe the brushes and the paint too), but it's up to the user to make art with it. People have done amazing things with far less than x9 or x10 offer.

Woah...sorry for the long post.

Peace, love, and happy game making,
SREALIST

Locked. AUP. 3.17

Exu Corporations : Challenging the way moderators manage these forums there will certainly be no debate whatsoever about. That is and will always be a non starter, likely to bring a swift and severe action response.
