I was wondering if it would be possible to have levels like Amnesia? And by that i mean when you walk up to a door and press enter it loads the next map. But in the next map that same door will load the previous map. Is this possible? Or has it already been done?

Thanks!

The "transport" is easily done with a little scripting.

The problem is, that with vanilla FPSC you cannot revisit levels.

The only workaround is:
- create an elaborate, interesting "hub level" that uses up every last byte the editor allows, and make 20-30 copies of it
- then create the other levels (up to the combined 50-lvl limit)which can each be entered from the hub and which return the player to the hub again but cannot be revisited.
- as an added bonus you can change the hub according to what happened in the other levels.

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

yes. you can make it, using 1.18 global variables and "nextlevel" command.

PS sorry, English is my second.

What do i need? PB? Why does everything need PB

Can you maybe say that in more detail? You mean make a script with the nextlevel command?

Thanks for the comments guys!

Why do you think people would post there? No offence, just an honest question.

I didnt look into this yet, but I bet that this will cause a lot of problems. Just think of a linear storyline like in most shooters (its actually true...you cant go back to the last level in almost every shooter!). You can have the same map again with other stuff that happens by just copying it and reeditting the copy.

Using global variables, we can edit events on our level, according to any events in others. For example, there can be door in level 1, which opens with a key, located in level 2. Or we there can be some enemyes, who appears only once, when you first time enters the level, or appears only after certain conditions. It is very fun and usefull but needs a lot of scripting)))

Fortunately, not everything needs PB.

As The Storyteller 01 pointed out, the use of a hub level works great. We use that method, altering the hub level according to what happens during the game. In one instance the hub level has set items, but perhaps later on the items change (for example- view screens, documents, etc). It is quite a chore to keep track of to be honest, but it is well worth it if planned right.

Hello all,

In my opinion sometimes people write or say things in a moment of anger, indignation or emotional imbalance which in fact they did not want to write or say. Who ever did this, did not you?

Also we all have the right to review declarations and change our point of view about something else, why not?

Welcome on board again Exu Corporations.

Have fun.

I actually don't, i realize that i only have 5 people on my forum and i don't expect to have a huge community like TGC forum has. I don't really like huge communities, im quite the loner

The game im trying to use this for is not a shooter It's Amnesia styles and you can find it in the WIP section.

Im still a beginner but i will work on it

I know, didn't a lot of the features in PB get transferred over to Vanilla FPSC? The only thing it still doesn't have is DAMN MOTION BLUR

Quote: "As The Storyteller 01 pointed out, the use of a hub level works great."

A hub level would not work for my game though. I know it's a good idea but it does not fit for my game..

That's exactly what it was, i was just mad so i decided to do that and it was kind of stupid.. But it was not a real farewell, more of a goodbye for a while until i figure out that i have no choice but to come back XD

But thank you for the welcome back

Thats first person adventure There are more games in that manor our there than amnesia.

If you describe your game as "Amnesia Style" to your future audience, everything people will think is "rip-off".
