Hi,

Will the increase in wide screen laptops (I use one) with a res of 1366x768x32 fro example. Is there a best practice for a resolution to optimise my game for ?

I have had issues with Windows and certain resolutions effecting picture quality and stretch, and wanted soem advice please.

With the rise of the NetBooks, there's quite a few out there happy just to stick with 800 x 600, so that games and software will run on all.

Well, 1024 x 600 or 800 x 600, one of them...

I usually choose an aspect ratio somewhere between normal and wide-screen, so that it uses up most of the screen without having to make separate versions.

For 2D I usually render to a high resolution image in memory and then scale that image to fit area of the screen I'm using. That way you only need one copy of all the images you use and you can also apply full-screen shaders when you draw the image to the screen.

Diggsey, what are the performance considerations for that approach? It's something I've always avoided simply because I have assumed it's a large overhead.
